Angela and her team made something extremely hard one of the easiest experiences ever.
I had no idea what to expect but the worst when I called Angela's office. Her staff was so real and made me feel so comfortable, and explained what my options were to get a divorce. Who knew you had options let alone three. I wanted things to be as easy as possible and did not want to spend a lot of money.
I chose to do mediation. I was told how to initiate the conversation with my spouse and everything was laid out step by step. I had anxiety going into that first meeting with Angela, and once we started the process, I felt comfortable, and knew I made the right choice. We had one session with Angela and everything else was done through email, and it was over.
Angela and her staff are smart and so wonderful. I would recommend any one to call her first before you do anything.
I hired Angela Laidlaw to work with me on a guardianship/custody case involving my child. It was a very sensitive case and I feel that I was well informed of not only what to expect, but what was happening at every step. The price proposed is just about exactly what it came to in the end, and they worked with me on making payments each month that suited my budget. I feel like they were very knowledgable on the subject matter and kept me informed of my rights and best approaches. I would recommend Angela Laidlaw.
At Laidlaw & Laidlaw, PC our divorce attorneys will keep your family’s best interest at the center of our work. We can help give you peace of mind in the midst of one of the most difficult situations you will ever face.
Mediation is a way for you to resolve disputes respectfully without going to court.
Angela Laidlaw’s work helping families navigate legal trauma –while preserving important relationships– requires a different way of thinking. In the words of a former client, Angela “has the interpersonal skills that allow her to successfully navigate through all sorts of challenges. She’s an excellent listener, creative, intuitive, and has strong analytical skills that make for a great attorney.” Angela understands that once a family’s legal case is over, the family’s relationship doesn’t end. She works tirelessly to help the family learn better communication skills to navigate their next stage as a restructured, binuclear family.

Angela Laidlaw was a godsend
I am so grateful that I found Angela Laidlaw. She helped me manage the horribly sad process of ending my 25-year marriage with her calm demeanor, infinite wisdom, and great sense of humor. She was truly my advocate, not just my lawyer, and every step of the way she mapped out best- and worst-case scenarios and possible outcomes and helped me make the toughest decisions I've ever faced. She is collaborative by nature, but when my ex started playing hardball she went toe-to-toe with his attorney and didn't back down. I honestly can't imagine having to go through that whole ordeal without Angela on my side.

Laidlaw and Laidlaw, Oregon
Angela Laidlaw stated that her firm was very well versed in matters such as ours. She estimated that the total cost for our paperwork would be $1000-$1500. In the end, the charges were more than double that estimate, without any reason given. Attorney Laidlaw’s staff charged more than $500 for work that proved to be unnecessary; so unnecessary that our final document contains crossed-out paragraphs by the signing Judge. When we disputed the bill, Attorney Laidlaw stated that she stands behind her fees and refused to reduce them to the $2500 retainer, which was $1000 over the high-end of the estimate.

Response from Angela LaidlawApril 7, 2014
I appreciate honest feedback from all my clients -- it helps me understand how and where I can make improvements in my communication.
First and foremost, I want to make sure you know that no matter your frustrations, I uphold my obligations to protect client information. Avvo is also intended to be somewhat anonymous, which means I’m not certain which specific client is posting. Unfortunately this means I can't address your specific concerns in this public forum. I hope that you are aware that you are welcome to contact my office to discuss your billing concerns directly with me. However, I can provide a somewhat generic response.
I recognize that clients are making investments in their futures (and their family's futures) when they hire an attorney. It's important that my clients understand the investment they are making. This is the reason that I send monthly invoices with specific detail about the work done and ask clients to contact me promptly with questions or concerns. It's also the reason that I don't charge for the time I spend answering billing questions.
Outside of the billing concerns you indicated, I'm very glad that I was able to accomplish the legal objectives you sought when you hired me.
Thank you for allowing me to help you in your case. I hope that you will raise your concerns with me directly -- please call Terra at our office to schedule an in-person appointment with me. I look forward to answering your questions about your invoice, but also to getting an update on the great things happening in your family since your case has ended.
Sincerely,
Angela
