Strength and comforter

Divorce is a scare thing I felt. But Shelly not only told me my rights as a wife but also made sure I understood them. My ex was not only violent but mentally and verbally aggressive. I was afraid. But Shelly reassured me that the law was there.... it gave me a great level of peace. She's amazing and... I will always make sure people who need her know it!!!!

Be warned

Was initially told by Shelley that the protective order filed against me was "thin" and easy to beat in court - so I hired her. Nothing was done in preparation for the hearing the week leading up to it. We met for 20 minutes the night before and I gave her a ton of evidence to support my case. None o...f that was reviewed until minutes before the trial. Most of Shelley's time was spent working with the other lawyer on dropping the restraining order in exchange for a solution that benefited my wife (what my wife and her attorney were going for in the first place and the reason the protective order was even filed). Shelley actually yelled at me outside the courtroom "I am trying to get your kids back! Let me do my job!" However, she did not do her job. My best interests were not considered. Just an easy way out and a quick $1000 in her pocket. I felt she backed down and didn't fight for me even though that is what she initially said she would do. My kids and house never should have been taken from me in the first place and the protective order was unjustified and frivolous. She should have easily been able to prove that in court. Now my wife has an extreme upper hand in the pending divorce case. I would not recommend. I believe another reviewer said something similar and I should have heeded their warning...

Awesome Lawyer

Shelly was wonderful and very professional in handing the divorce and going through all our assets and working on the paper work . Shelly was very helpful with every change we made to our docs. Shelly also advised of a QDRO and without her I would not have known what I was entitled to. Shelly also ...gave us ideas about our parenting plan so it was fair. Tara her assistant always let me know where she was in the stage. I would recommend her and her team. Shelly is wonderful to work with.

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"I have had several cases against Shelley over the years. She is a tough advocate for her client, but also has common sense and is willing to work through problems to reach a solution that both sides can agree on. Shelley was disciplined by the bar because she failed to pay her payroll taxes on time for several months when she was having financial difficulties. Although our self-regulating bar holds attorneys to a high standard, (which is good) sometimes, we attorneys have tough times and make mistakes too. I believe that Shelley has learned from this and I have no hesitation in saying that she is a smart and capable family law attorney."

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2012.

Suspension - Disciplinary issued in OR, 2012

updated on 06/23/2015

This sanction means the attorney lost his or her license to practice law for a period of time. The attorney typically returns to practicing law when the suspension expires.

Shelley’s comment:

“In 2009, my firm had financial difficulties and I chose to make late payment to the state and federal government for payroll taxes instead of laying off employees or reducing benefits. This resulted in the bar disciplining me in 2012.”
