Sean D. K. Scott, Esq. earned a Bachelors degree in Criminology from the University of Florida in 1990. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Florida College of Law in 1994. Upon graduating law school, Sean began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender for the Pinellas County Public Defender’s Office. While working there, he zealously represented a 170+ average caseload of indigent defendants charged with criminal offenses from initial consultation through appeal. He had the additional responsibility of defending persons in involuntarily commitment hearings pursuant to the Florida Baker Act Statute.
Sean opened his own private practice in 1997. As the Managing Member of Scott Law Firm, Sean has had extensive experience in handling cases in the areas of Criminal Defense, Personal Injury, Business Law & Acquisitions, Corporate Law, Bankruptcy, Estate Planning/Administration, and Probate Law.
While practicing, Sean also devoted 12 years as a Full Professor at St. Petersburg College training legal professionals in the areas of Business Law, Corporations, Bankruptcy, Criminal Law, Legal Drafting, and Civil Litigation in face-to-face, online, and blended formats. He was twice awarded the Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year Award.
Sean resides in Maui, Hawai'i. He is a member of the Maui County Bar Association, speaks at continuing legal education seminars, and enjoys giving back to his community. In his free time, Sean enjoys hiking, surfing, building surfboards, fishing, golfing, and DIY projects.
