also known as Catherine Vance
I went to law school for the specific purpose of advocating for children. Prior to that, I had worked in group homes for troubled teens, many of whom were runaways, throwaways, sexually exploited children, drug addicts and victims of their own familes. My husband retired after 25 years in law enforcement to become a family law and juvenile law attorney with me. Vance & Vance relocated from Solano County to beautiful Butte County, where we reside almost off-the-grid north of Magalia. While Mr. Vance now enjoys retirement and tending to our 20 acres of forest, I continue in a solo practice. My office space in Paradise was burned down in the Camp Fire, so I moved to Chico, and now permanently settled in Oroville in the handsome old Griggs Building on Lincoln Street. I am not adept,at, nor really interested in, complex property cases, but I have recognized expertise, reputation and success rate in complex child custody cases.
Whether your child custody matter comes with or without a divorce action, I can deftly handle it. There is no custody issue I have not researched, investigated, figured out, handled and succeeded with. If you have a drug problem, bad temper, poor parenting skils or a history of bad decision-making, that is where I can help the most. I will not make excuses for you or try to cover for you. But I will develop an action plan for you to beome the the good parent you want to be and the good parent your child deserves. I have taken cases where a parent starts with no visitation to supervised visitation, to regular visitation, to joint custody, to primary custody in a surprisingly short period of time. Nothing is hopeless. Nothing is too far gone. Every problem has a solution.
Catherine Vance. Because anybody can do the easy ones.

Huge RAVE for Catherine Vance!
Since losing my Home in the Paradise Fires, I haven’t had much to RAVE about until now. I found a miracle worker, Catherine Vance Attorney at Law! Despite losing her Law Office in the Fire, she continues to work hard helping People from the Ridge, and her Community. After filing for divorce, my Spo...

Should be disbarred
Misrepresented child custody case. She was paid handsomely to represent us and instead acted on her own and discussed matters that were never addressed with my wife and I, the judge ruled in favor of the other side.

Bad, bad, bad!!!
She was paid 7k to take care of 2 separate. cases relatively easy. I figured I could do it easily but it would be time consuming so I would rather higher a lawyer so it is done fast and correct, but no Im still married and I felt like she was representing him, and giving him so many chances and if I ...
That's okay. My client felt so bad, but I actually laughed and told her, "Well, I could tell you were having an emotional 'bad hair day.'" Sometimes, though, even very good attorneys drop the ball. There are times when we deserve criticism. I have made mistakes---all lawyers do. Then I ask my clients, "Will you let me fix this at no cost to you?" I taught my son, "Never choke to death on the words, 'I'm sorry, I made a mistake.'" Triple your efforts and fix it.

Great Family Law Attorney
For those of you unfortunate to find yourself in family court, you know that finding a good, competent, attorney is critical. It's also important to find an attorney that's a good fit with your personality and needs. With that said, an attorney that one person might love, another might be indifferent...
This person is absolutely correct about having an attorney who operates well in the county of your case. Judges have their individual quirks and each county has a separate set of local rules. In looking for an attorney, do a little work to find out how regularly that attorney practices in your county.
"I endorse this lawyer because - although I don't know her - I just read a response that she gave to a parent asking about parenting plans and she gave the most thorough and thoughtful response that I've seen here on AVVO."
"Although she is new to Avvo, it is immediately apparent that the answers of Ms. Vance are accurate, full of analysis, and customized to the needs of the Avvo askers. These are exactly the qualities that every client would look for when hiring an attorney."
"I've had the pleasure of working with this lawyer on a complicated family law case involving multiple jurisdictional issues. She is obviously a very experienced family law practitioner and extremely knowledgeable. Catherine is a staunch advocate for her clients. I feel I am a better lawyer from having the experience of working with her. I endorse this lawyer."
