Attorney Steven Burlingham abandoned my elderly mother

This review is exactly what happened when Attorney Steven Burlingham, was retained by my Mother and Myself, (#1) On November 1st 2018 (#2) I read a report from court investigator that stated there was a potential conflict my mother and I being represented by the same attorney Steven Burlingham, a...nd she requested a court appointed attorney to represent my mother. (#3) So I retained another attorney for 9,000 dollars cash to work with Attorney Steven Burlingham, which removed the potential conflict and gave my mother the benefit of a private attorney. (#4) Now what happened next on November 2nd 2018 Attorney Steven Burlingham sent me a message that he received the report that stated a request that my mother be represented by a court appointed attorney, which didn't worry me because I already retained another attorney to take care of this issue. (#5) Now what I didn't know at the time on the same day Attorney Steven Burlingham received the report requesting a court appointed attorney for my mother, Attorney Burlingham sent a message to the second attorney I retained and stated that a Substitution of Attorney would be appropriate because he filed opposition on behalf of my mother. (#6) Now even though I didn't know about the message at that time, The Second Attorney instructed his associate on November 28th 2018 to Obtain my signature on the Substitution of Attorney, by stating that they received a message from Attorney Burlingham, requesting the Substitution of Attorney so that he could represent my mother on the upcoming December 6 court proceeding, so I signed it. (#9) I didn't no at the time but the second attorney's paralegal filed the Substitution of Attorney with the court without the signature of Attorney Steven Burlingham, where she wrote that his signature was on the next page which it wasn't (#10) Now what happened next was on December 4th 2018 Attorney Burlingham prepared a second Substitution of Attorney and forged my signature on the Substitution of Attorney and used it to release himself as my mother's Attorney two days before the December 6 court proceeding. (#11) Now when December 6th court proceeding started Attorney Burlingham failed to show up to court which allowed the court to appoint a court appointed attorney to represent my mother. exactly what was requested by the court Investigator. (#12) Now after trying multiple times to get in touch with attorney Steven Burlingham,to receive a explanation for his uncontionable act and to retrieve the 10,000 dollar retainer he received from my mother and myself, he kept avoiding my calls and visits to his office. (#13) Now on January 13th 2019 Attorney Burlingham sent me a message stating r that I never retained him to represent my mother or myself that I retained the other firm then he stated that the second attorney asked the court if he could represent my mother and as expected the court denied his request, (#14) Then on January 14th 2019, I sent a message telling him that he was already retained to represent my mother and myself until the court Investigator stated that their was a potential conflict and that when I retained the other firm, Now Attorney Steven Burlingham kept the 10,000 dollar retainer and only refunded 2,000 when me and my mother visited his office five months later. Now this is the most important evidence I received when I demanded all of the documents from attorney Burlingham. It showed on the Substitution of Attorney that I released attorney Burlingham from representing my mother, and the new attorney was the same attorney that had me sign the Substitution of Attorney on November 28th, but he showed up to court representing me not my mother, and allowed the court to appoint a court appointed attorney to represent my mother. This is exactly what occured and I am still fighting in court.

Satisfied and Grateful

I wanted to take a moment and give Mr. Burlingham due credit. My wife and I were named in a law suit that we were not responsible for. We have only been in the area a couple of years and up till this summons have had no need for a lawyer. A close friend of ours recommended Steve. After explaining our... situation to him, Steve wrote a letter immediately and within a week I had both requests that we asked him to solve for us. One, that we would be dismissed from the law suit and that we wouldn't have to pay any fees. Steve accomplished this for us within a week much to our relief. He is very knowledgeable, brief and to the point. He took care of business for us and didn't charge an arm and a leg for his services. If you're in trouble I highly recommend you take advantage of his services. In addition we received the balance of our retainer within a week's time, which was very gratifying for us. We are so glad our friend told us about Steve, I think you will be too.
