About Tom

Learn Tom’s areas of practice.

I represent working people that are injured on the job. I believe everything should be explained thoroughly and in understandable terms. Getting injured on the job can be a scary and life-altering event. Getting your worker’s compensation benefits can be a complicated process to get through that requires excellent representation. Through my education and experience, I strive to make a difference in the lives of my clients by leveling the playing field against the powerful insurance companies who profit by denying benefits to injured people.

Very knowledgeable and helpful!
I came to Tom for help on my workers compensation claim. He filed a second claim, took the deposition of the doctor, hired a vocational expert, and we successfully settled my claim.

Committed Attorney = Satisfied Client (Thank you!)
In the time of need Tom stepped in and took care of all the legal aspects. His knowledge, professionalism, and overall thoughtfulness assured me that he was the right attorney. Tom kept me informed, made himself available and actually cared (it showed). If ever needed, I would not hesitate contacting Tom Johnson again. Many thanks to him and his staff!

Tom Johnson represented me very poorly.
At first not knowing anything about work comp and all it entailed Tom appeared to be knowledgeable and capable. Through the process he dropped the ball several times including giving me wrong information about my rights as a claimant. Simple questions that he didn't know the answer to, for example, work comp wants me to go to work at good will but I still am in pain, I ask Tom, Do I have to do this? Tom reply's with a I'm not sure but if there telling you to do this you better do it. Knowing what I know now this infuriates me. I was in pain and they were pushing me back to work. Soon after Tom was supposed to do something for picking an independent doctor for court but missed the date and the work comp received there choice physician. Tom simply shrugged his shoulders and said well. The numbers he kept giving me about case worthiness were really low. I was scared that with Tom's carefree attitude and the incompetents shown I was going to walk away with nothing so I decided to settle. They made an offer in court, Tom had said he thought it was a good offer because it was what he asked for at an earlier date. I told him that it should be more because there were injuries that had not yet been addressed or looked at and that offer was before any MRI's had come back. Tom responds with, well that's true. After settling at about 50% of what I found out my claim was worth. I still have major injuries and cannot return to my job almost two years later. Tom and his staff after settling disappeared, I still had to communicate to work comp through Tom and it took weeks and eventually months to receive, all of the settlement. His staff became rude when I was overly frustrated that after they were paid they stopped helping me even though he was still my legal counsel. One other thing I found concerning was how buddy buddy Tom was with the opposing attorney. I understand the need to be professional and courteous but it was something that caught my ear one day after they had thought I left the office. I am angry but not spiteful, you live and you learn. I am still in a lot of pain and just wish I had made a better decision. It is was my decision to settle, I just wished I had better counsel to make a better decision. Knowing what I know now I would have never settled. I am still in lots of pain needing multiple surgeries and cannot return to my job. I have to say from the bottom of my heart that Tom Johnson did not represent me well and I would not recommend Tom to anyone.

"I endorse this lawyer. Tom and I have worked on several cases together. Our most recent was a "writ denied" trial victory involving lifetime benefits to the disabled surviving dependent of an employee alleged to have been killed in a work-related MVA. Tom proved himself an excellent litigator, an able (and successful) appellate writer, a calm negotiator and a very hard worker. He will be a asset anywhere."
