About me

I am a member of the Real Estate, Corporate and Business, and Tax and Estate Planning teams here at Murphy Austin.

My commercial real estate practice includes purchase and sale agreements and commercial leasing.

My transactional business practice includes matters such as choice of entity, formation, governance, buy-sell agreements, M&A, reorganizations, contract review and drafting, and the like.  I have represented entities of all types, including for-profit and nonprofit, domestic and international, corporate and pass-through.

My tax practice includes tax planning and tax controversy for both businesses and individuals, including matters of corporate, partnership, income, international, sales and use, employment, estate and gift, and property tax.  Additionally, I have experience in basic and complex estate planning and asset protections matters.

I am a former Chair of the Tax Section of the Sacramento County Bar Association.  My other professional associations include the Business and Real Property Sections of the SCBA and the Sacramento Estate Planning Council.

I received my J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, my Master’s Degree in Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento, and degrees in Economics and Political Science while at the University of California, Davis. I am presently a candidate for a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Transnational Business Practice from McGeorge (emphasis in tax) with an expected graduation date of May 2016.

I was named a Rising Star by Northern California Super Lawyers in 2015, which is awarded to the top 2.5% of practitioners under the age of 40.

Prior to joining Murphy Austin, I worked at a boutique firm, practicing transactional business, tax, and cross-over estate planning issues.  I also worked as an extern for the Board of Equalization’s Tax Appeals Assistance Program, and as a research assistant for McGeorge Tax Professor Christine Manolakas.
