For your sake and sanity...do not hire Mr. Patrick Keegan

Mr. Keegan is one of the worst attorneys I have ever had work for me or that I've heard about from friends and acquaintances. He refused to follow my instructions and in the process cost me thousands of dollars and over 2 1/2 years of frustration. He had 2 assistants quit; each time my file went miss...ing. Many phone calls later it would be located sitting on his chair or desk; then it had to be reviewed and updated...and the process would start all over again. His third assistant is still hanging in there, poor lady. Mr. Keegan was given specific information about a retirement account "A" that had been rolled over into account "B". A QDRO was needed to divide the funds in account "B". Another QDRO was needed for the railroad retirement Tier II "C". All in all, we needed 2 QDROs, one for "B" and the second for account "C". Mr Keegan had all the necessary paperwork and copies of checks, statements and instructions from me. He proceeded to, slowly, ever so slowly, look at my file and do nothing but bill me for "reviewing" my file. These 2 QDROs were pretty straight forward, my husband and I were in complete agreement and were neither combative nor indecisive in what we wanted from Mr. Keegan. So Mr. Keegan filed 3 QDROs, A, B and C, which resulted in the funds in account "A" being frozen. I continued following up with phone calls and emails to no avail. Bottom line is that Mr. Keegan did not do the job I needed him to do correctly nor in a timely fashion. The fees were burdensome and excessive because of his staff quiting and he wouldn't follow my instructions, aside from the fact that I had to practically walk him through the process of getting the the funds from the proper account into my personal retirement account. He was just lousy attorney; the kind that gives attorneys a bad name!
