Meriam Elizabeth Hansen

Meriam E. Hansen has practiced law for 18 years.  Her practice has focused virtually exclusively on employment law, civil and commercial litigation, and client counseling and training.  Meriam has spent her career representing clients before state and federal courts and administrative agencies.  She also provides pre-litigation advice and counseling to clients on a regular basis. 

Meriam's philosophy includes the belief that preventing litigation is ideal; however, once litigation has begun, it is essential that clients have an attorney with the technical knowledge and expertise to resolve their case.  Clients need someone who knows the rules and how they work; they need someone who can listen to their concerns and professionally and aggressively advocate on their behalf.  Ultimately, clients need someone that can solve their problem effectively and efficiently.  Communicating with clients, putting their needs first, and keeping them informed of their options at every stage of representation is essential.  Lawyers are trustees of the justice system.  As leaders, Meriam believes they have an obligation to promote the highest ethical practices, civility and equal access to justice. 

Meriam has worked for one of the largest law firms in California, Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, as well as small boutique litigation firms.  She has represented large and small companies, and companies that are local and have a national presence.    

Admitted to the California State Bar in 1996 (under her maiden name of Meriam Hamilton), Meriam is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Southern, Central, Northern, and Eastern Districts of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
