Robert Yigael Bell

With over 40 years of criminal law practice, Mr. Bell has experience in all the California Courts, from Juvenile Court, Superior Courts, The Appellate Courts and the California Supreme Court.  He has defended people's constitutional rights in a wide range of issues from minor infractions to complex felony cases such as assaults, drug charges, manslaughter etc.  Working hard to fight for his clients either in trial or settlement, as one Judge put it best, "Mr. Bell has tried to put a human face on the defendant".

   Over the years, he has had the opportunity to practice in over half the counties of California, achieving successes in settling cases, jury trials and appeals.  His early career in Human Rights cases involved helping the farm workers and worked with Caesar Chavez to defend many picketers unjustly incarcerated for protesting.

   From 1966 to 1969, Mr. Bell was the directing attorney for California Rural Legal Assistance, which seeks to ensure that all low-income rural communities in California have access to justice and the basic provision of human rights.

   He also defended Vietnam Vets rights to protest, as well as other diverse groups and organizations.  Mr. Bell's practice is now currently focused on work in the Superior Court system where he feels his abilities in trial strategy and negotiations are well served; and as a member of NORML (The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) is a strong defender of the basic right to medicinal marijuana.

  He works with the assistance of his wife/legal assistant on individual cases as well in conjunction with other attorneys.
