I have represented people accused of sleeping in bushes, people accused of killing multiple victims, and people accused of doing pretty much everything in between.
Many of my clients have been acquitted at trial, had their cases dismissed, or had their charges drastically reduced. Mostly because I have been able to use my considerable experience and skills to successfully counter the prosecution's case by challenging the sufficiency of the evidence, by exposing police misconduct, or by identifying procedural errors. And sometimes just because.
I am very good -- in fact I would like to say that I am the best, but I will never promise you that I will get your charges dismissed or that I will get you a not guilty verdict at trial. I will not even promise that "I will always fight for you" -- every case is different, and sometimes diplomacy and negotiation gets a better result than "fighting."
I will only ever make you one promise: If you have been accused of a criminal offense, I will do everything I possibly can to make sure that you are treated fairly.
Beware the lawyer who promises anything more.
(Please feel free to Google me. If you don't get too distracted by reports of my unusual hobbies or the details of certain notorious cases, you might come across one or two published articles that I have written on the subject of California's very harsh gang enhancement laws. Not only do clients accused of gang-related offenses seek me out because of my special knowledge and experience in that very difficult area of law, but other criminal defense lawyers frequently seek my assistance in complex gang cases. In other words; if it's a tough case, and especially if it's a gang case, I'm your man.)

Gets it
Attorney Martin Baker Responded to my question about an 4 year old DUI Warrant which I was completely unaware of. I had just moved to a new state and was trying to secure employment when the Warrent appeared in my background check. I posted the question in Avvo And Mr. Baker was one of the 1s...
"Martin is knowledgeable and approachable. He has a great command of criminal law and is able to explain all options available in a case in a way that makes it easy to understand what can be so complicated. He understands the impact of criminal cases on other areas of the law too such as immigration and family law which makes him a great asset."
"The answers of Mr. Baker are tough, direct, and correct and customized to the needs of the Avvo askers. These are the qualties that every client should look for when hiring a lawyer."
"I highly recommend Martin Baker as a criminal defense attorney. Martin has been a practicing criminal defense for more then 14 years. He is extremely well versed in the law. We have worked on several matters together and I am always impressed by his wealth of knowledge and experience he brings to the table. He is passionate and extremely intelligent. He has done numerous trials from misdemeanors to violent felonies and murder cases. He works hard to get the best results for his clients. You will not find a better criminal defense attorney with more knowledge of the law or practical experience. Martin is truly one of the best."
"Mr. Baker has one of the best legal minds I have ever encountered. If you're looking for a skillful, thorough, and zealous defense, look no further. I wholeheartedly endorse Mr. Baker."
"I write this endorsement of Martin based on my nearly 15 year relationship with him as a member of the Criminal Defense Bar. Martin is a preeminently qualified criminal defense attorney. He has an exceptional grasp of the substantive law, a keen mind for the strategic considerations present in all criminal cases and posseses the personal qualities necessary to engender the trust and confidence of his clients - a critical requirement when you hold your client's life in your hands. I can honestly say that Martin's knowledge of the criminal law, his ability to apply the law to the facts of a case and make strategic decisions to best serve the interests of his clients are unsurpassed. Whether he is representing a client in a misdemeanor case or in a death penalty trial, there is little doubt that the client will receive top notch, professional representation."
