Bad business and professional Ethics

I specifically asked for a Demand letter to a property owner. I advanced $800 to cover consult and time and just in case funds with the agreement unused funds would be returned. Two weeks later I recieved a draft letter that was NOT a demand letter but an invitation for contact. I terminated services... and asked for a billing statement and refund check of remainder. Their draft letter was never utilized, not in part or otherwise. I had to make several more requests, before I recieved a statement AND BILL for $2650. "Are you kidding me?" I call to alert them of their error and was put on hold for over 20 mins-In that I not only shopped at a grocery store but I then proceeded to their office the whole time on hold. Vivian returns to the call only after she sees me walk in. REALLY! She knows why I'm there and tells me I would have to speak to Mr. Widman. He told me to speak to you. Why dont we get him on the phone and clear this up. She proceeds to ignore me. I haven't raised my voice or accused anybody of anything. But at that moment it became very clear. This is bad business practices from PADDING CLIENTS BILLS, to Failing to provide statement on request and NO ETHICS IN GENERAL. This guy gives other attorneys a bad name!

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
