Emile Nijmeh is a founding partner of Nijmeh & LaMotte. Emile attended Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California, where he served as an editor of the International and Comparative Law Review and graduated in the top 10 percent of his class, cum laude. Before graduating law school and finding his niche in family and criminal law, Emile worked as a law clerk at various music studios and entertainment law firms. This experience was instrumental to his growth as a young attorney. Though he enjoyed helping artists protect their intellectual property rights, he felt there was a human element that was missing. He eventually found that human element when he began practicing family law.
Emile now enjoys helping families get through some of the most difficult times they will ever endure. This is why his approach to handling divorce and child custody matters is one that involves compassion and understanding, and he prides himself on keeping emotions as low as possible in order to prevent what should be simple divorce cases from turning into unnecessarily high-cost, contentious litigation. He handles a wide range of family law cases from straightforward divorces to high-conflict child custody disputes, as well as adoptions, guardianships, parentage proceedings and more. His focus is on all aspects of divorce, from the dissolution itself to the underlying issues such as child custody and visitation, child support, spousal support, property characterization, valuation, and division of community and separate property. While Emile prefers taking a creative and collaborative approach to reaching efficient, amicable resolution of all the issues in a dissolution, he is also no stranger to high-conflict divorces and custody disputes that require aggressive, zealous advocacy when necessary.
Emile also handles criminal law cases, particularly those involving domestic violence, as they often coincide with family law restraining order proceedings. His experience in criminal law is not limited to domestic violence, however, as he has represented numerous clients in other criminal law matters as well.
During his free time, Emile enjoys producing music, fishing, and watching his favorite Bay Area sports teams.
