Allen Charles Speare

There aren't enough stars to rate Allen Speare high enough, so I will list all of the ways he was a WINNER for me! 1. Number 1, He kept me out of jail for 18 months. That's a year and a half of my life. We went to court so many times to keep me out of jail, I lost track. Need I say more? 2. Ok..., I will say more. He didn't charge me very much for a felony, he used a sliding scale based on my finances. Allen charged me significantly less than I expected for a felony--I expected a third more than he charged. Fair? No, not enough! When I total all of the hours and the extra time Allen put in on my case, it doesn't average out to be much. I owe him more. 3. Why do I owe him more? He, within a few weeks, worked with the director of my alcohol rehab and the judge and put me in S.O.R.P, which gave me house arrest for 9 months. Not only was I finally able to beat my addiction in rehab finally (I tried many times before, and the judge appreciated that I had been trying), but I was also able to work for the rest of my alternate sentence, total 18 months. This means I could keep my house by working to pay my mortgage! 4. Allen's personality kept me going. His sense of humor made me laugh in the worst moments, which made me forget about my remorse over my felony DUI and drinking problem. He also was my cheerleader, constantly encouraging me along the way. My family had abandoned me, so I really appreciated this. 5. I also have a health condition which made my case difficult a couple of times. Once Allen worked with my pretrial services officer and sober house on the weekend to make sure I was okay and didn't break any rules. Maybe he should have become a doctor:-) 6. Allen Speare saved my life. Can I say more? Along with my doctor and my AA sponsor, he is one of my heroes. Not many people would reach out to an absolute stranger to help them overcome the disease of alcoholism AND give them another chance in society by giving them a program instead of jail. 7. He's fast, too! I always got on the court calendar within a week. His office staff is fabulous. 8. Did I mention that he knows his stuff? 9. The State of California, thanks to Allen, now has a better person as a citizen. I've been sober a year and a half, all my friends love me more than when I was a drinker, I'm calmer, happier, quit smoking, think better, my memory returns every day in beautiful ways, and I work better, I come up with better ideas. 10. Allen Speare is like a Godiva chocolate truffle, soft on the inside, hard on the outside; genuine compassion and good heart, pit bull in the courtroom. What?! No more room for stars? I will conclude by saying that I rate Allen C. Speare the highest in character, integrity, intelligence, experience, wit, patience--the list goes on. My case was so complicated that I can't imagine how Allen did it! Multiply that by all of the people Allen Speare helps! I even began having panic/anxiety attacks near my sentencing, and he was understanding about that. (Read between the lines: I was not an "easy client") On one court appearance, he used an ingenious strategy in the courtroom to win lighter penalties in my case. Secondly, when a witness didn't show, he quickly replaced her with the rep from my ankle bracelet company to testify on my behalf, and the judge let me get my ankle bracelet (a.k.a. alcohol monitor, a.k.a. Hollywood Jewelry) taken off that very day! He also got the number of days in my Sheriff's Work Program reduced. I will recommend Allen to anyone who needs representation in the future.

Allen was the second lawyer I hired for my case. My first lawyer threw me a great sales pitch, took my money and I never received a phone call. I was updated to show up to court via USPS mail. When it was time for trial, you can guess what happened. Open your pocket book, and I would have if I nee...ded to. I decided to seek new counseling and I was fortunate to find Allen Speare. I presented my case to him and he was quick to understand my point of few and began to brainstorm the case. Throughout the whole ordeal his communication via phone calls/emails was second to none. I was never left not knowing the current status of my case or what actions he needed me to take assisting in the case. Allen was able to find a loop hole and point out an error with the DA's speeding curve ball zinging right at my head. Not only did that curve ball miss my head, it also saved my a ton of money. Allen has assisted my family on several occasions.
