Michael Leon Marowitz

Was legal scholar when in law school, when serving as law clerk for Chief Judge of Oregon Court of Appeals, and when earning advanced, master's degree in law with emphases on consitutional law and jurisprudence, the philosophy of law at Stanford Law School. Served as legal instructor or teaching fellow at three different law schools, including Stanford Law School, and in Philosophy Department at Stanford.  Have written and edited law review articles, served as Editor-in-Chief, Golden Gate University Law Review 1977-78.  Earned Best Brief award in 1977 Roger Traynor Honors Moot Court competition.  

Have practiced law in many fields, including landlord-tenant, commercial, bankruptcy, personal injury, wills and trusts, property, but have concentrated on criminal defense work for most of career and almost exclusively now.  Because speak fluent Spanish, 1/3 of total clientele Latino.  Speak with Latin clients and their family members in Spanish.

Was married, now single, ride motorcyle, love to travel, dance, watch movies from around the world.  Listen to all kinds of music, from classical to rhythm and blues, rock, jazz, pop.  Always trying to become a better cook.  Political commentator on numerous blogs, an unapologetic liberal because always want to look and feel what it's like to be the one made worse off by whatever policy is in question.  Background in philosophy, psychology, pre-med.  Love sports, was good athlete when younger, still hoping to hit 10 out of 10 shots from professional 3-point line even though I'm a senior citizen at this juncture. Try to shoot hoops every weekend. Good sense of humor, getting better each year at telling jokes. Am a leader in groups ranging from lawyers' associations to high school reunion committees.  Good listener, articulate speaker.  Love a challenge, championing the rights of underdogs.  Want to teach English to Spanish-speaking kids when retired.
