Matt Hindman is a former U.S. Marine and Gulf War Veteran and now works in San Francisco as a patent and intellectual property attorney specializing in complex technologies and related legal issues.  Matt has an electrical engineering degree from the prestigious UCLA School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and has worked as a microprocessor design engineer at Intel Corporation focusing on custom logic and integrated circuit design of the Pentium and Pentium 4 microprocessors.  Matt has over 12 years experience in the semiconductor industry and has substantial working knowledge in a broad spectrum of technologies including multi-core microprocessors and chipsets, volatile and non-volatile memories, digital integrated circuits, electronic design automation software tools, telecommunications and computer networks, wireless mobile devices, data storage systems, and various Internet business methods and software platforms.  


Matt's law practice focuses on patent prosecution and appeals, patent and trade secret litigation and pre-litigation strategy, patent reexamination and post-grant proceedings, patent portfolio analysis and management, patent valuation, and preparing legal opinions covering patentability, non-infringement, invalidity, and freedom to operate.  Matt represents companies at all stages of development, from start-up and emerging companies, to pre-IPO companies, to large public corporations, and is dedicated to achieving long term success for his clients through strategic implementation of their intellectual property assets.  A significant part of his practice focuses on counseling start-up companies through the complex process involved with obtaining the strongest strategic protection for their intellectual property to provide access to capital, attract merging partners, and protect investment and market share.
