I was arrested for a felony DUI because two passengers in my car were injured in the accident I had. Peter arranged my release and I went to his office where we had a lengthy conversation. Peter first persuaded the district attorney to charge me with a misdemeanor rather than a felony. He then filed a motion asking the judge to divert my case from the criminal justice system and the judge granted his motion. She placed me on diversion for 1 year and ordered me during that time to complete a 9-month DUI program, attend 40 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and watch a video about the dangers of driving under the influence. It was a slow and steady process that enabled me to better myself as a human being. I still to this day stay connected with a few fellows from my AA sessions. After I completed all of the requirements of my diversion, I met with Peter once again at the Hall of Justice wearing the proper attire. I can still remember this being one of the most stressful days of my existence. We walked into the courtroom and the judge announced that the criminal case against me was dismissed. I will always be grateful to Peter for all the work he put in for me. It started out as a professional relationship but during the lengthy process it became personal as well.
