A good man, an excellent lawyer, and a wealth of information and prudence.

I needed a good lawyer when fighting an illegal eviction attempt by an unscrupulous landlord in SF. Dan Berko came recommended and immediately I knew I had come to the right place. He explained aspects of my case to me and potential pitfalls, never overconfident or selling. In the end we p...revailed, but I should mention it was an impressive litany of legalese that this man had at his fingertips and observing him explaining case law nuances was frankly impressive. His junior associate Carlos Jato was equally sharp and attentive to detail. Overall I have no doubt that I received some of the best legal counsel available and under adverse circumstances and timelines. His fees were beyond reasonable, he was willing to work with us of meager means at that period. His personal advice to me during that period was reassuring and helped me navigate the ordeal. I thank him for his knowledge, his pragmatic demeanor and ultimately his candor. I would recommend him to anyone and I'm definitely understating my praises. A consummate professional.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
