Janice Rourke Hugener

Janice is a seasoned attorney with more than 20 years’ experience working with competing stakeholders in the commercial, professional liability, and financial institution bond sectors. For the first 20+ years of her practice, Janice exclusively represented the interests of domestic and foreign insurers in complicated coverage disputes. More recently, she has leveraged that expertise into a boutique practice that focuses on helping her corporate and nonprofit clients identify and minimize legal risks by advising their D&Os and senior managers on a myriad of legal issues and then working with outside defense counsel to implement cost and time effective resolutions within budget. 

A trusted adviser and litigator who also has 20 years’ experience serving as outside general counsel for a design/build entertainment systems firm, Janice is highly experienced in analyzing complex liability, damages, and insurance coverage issues, managing outside counsel to budget, proactively addressing HR issues, handling business negotiations, drafting business-related contracts, and advocating on her clients' behalf. Her background also includes serving as trial and appellate counsel in insurance coverage and commercial litigation.
