NOT WHAT I EXPECTED!!!
I learn that if you want a least 50% honest attorneys find someone of your own kind (race) or will end up losing a case and money ( even if you have all the evidence to win ). Had all the evidence to win a case but instead she did whatever the other side asked her to. I spoke with other attorneys th...
Wow. I am surprised by this review. Our firm is very honest with our clients. Sometimes, what the otherside is proposing is what is best for our clients to accept. We never force people into settling their cases---we fully explain what their options are. And zealously fight for our clients rights. Remember in the end that you as the client make the final decision on what you want to do. Also keep in mind that different lawyers may have different ways of handling cases. Further, this reviewer indicates that they have worked with 6-10 lawyers---usually people who work with a lot of lawyers may have issues. Clients again ultimately make the decision. Do not blame it on the lawyer if you make a decision.

Careless lawyer with poor ethics
Ms. Stein bungled my case so badly I don't know where to begin. In just a few days, she made multiple mistakes that made my situation much worse. She was either careless (as the other person stated) or she did them deliberately to profit from it - at my expense. I don't know. I reported the mat...
I was warned by the opposing counsel who has dealt with this client FOR YEARS, not to take his case. Despite my best judgment, I did. He is very litigious, manipulative and does not even see his children from his prior marriage. This is all public record. He had unrealistic expectations of the result of his case despite my explanation and advise to him. No mistakes were made that had any effect on his case. We had over an hour contested hearing and the Judge did not rule in his favor. That is not my fault. The facts are the facts. The Judge even commented on how hard I argued and how well I tried to win his point to me. So, did opposing counsel. In addition, he wanted the other side to agree to something that the law would not allow. He is blaming me for his own situation instead of looking in the mirror. He was the client who refused to pay his bill. He wanted a refund from money that he gave me. I offered multiple times to settle with him---even making a donation to a San Jose Zoo or the YMCA in his name--he refused. He only wants to litigate. He wanted to spend more time fighting me then trying to get visitation of his two children---shows you what kind of person this client was. The arbitrator did give him a slight refund---only to appease him to go away and resolve this. The arbitrator's calculations were incorrect as well (and had they been correct I would not owe him any money) but to move on from this and since I knew the client would not go away without some money, I let the orders stand. This is the only person in my over ten years of practice who has been this way and treated me like this. Everyone else has been very happy with my services and many of my clients become my life long friends. If I did not have a good reputation and was not a good lawyer, I would not have been elected to be the Santa Clara County Bar Association President. I wish this client the best of luck and hope that he finds peace with himself as blamming others for your own mistake in life does not get you anywhere.

Careless lawyer in Sunnyvale
Shannon Stein is a very careless lawyer. She sent my private and confidential information to some other person. When I brought this to her notice, she blamed it on me and was unapologetic about the whole thing.
This information is simply untrue. I am very careful to make sure that I check email addresses before they are sent. This client put down the incorrect email address on his form. This is not my fault. Once it was realized that the information was sent to the wrong address, it was immediately rectified. This client also was very difficult to work with it in general. I understand that the attorneys who he hired after me have had difficulty with him. He refused to listen to legal advice. I am very trustworthy, I respond within a few hours to clients, I keep client's well informed of their case and am very knowledgeable of the law and how the court system works. My clients enjoy working with me very much. Many turn into good friends of mine. It is unfortunate that this person was unhappy with my services. I could have represented him well.
"I endorse this lawyer. Josh is a detailed, caring, and intelligent lawyer. He truly cares about his clients. He helps his clients navigate through the Court process well. I highly recommend him."
"I would strongly recommend Shannon Stein to any individual requiring a family law attorney. While Shannon is extremely compassionate, ethical, and competent, the factor that most stands out is her desire to reduce client costs and go about family law litigation in a measured and reasonable manner. Shannon is not the type of attorney who profits at the expense of her clients. She finds a way to successfully forward her client's agenda without unnecessary delay or expense. Her sound insight into the law allows her to give the kind of excellent legal advice that promotes appropriate resolution family law matters. I cannot recommend her highly enough."
"I am very familiar with Shannon and her work. She is extremely professional, effective, and knowledgeable. She is held in high regard within the community. I would highly recommend her."
"I've referred a number of clients to Shannon all with very positive results. She is very knowledgeable, has good relationships with her clients and is a strong advocate for her clients."
"A number of people in my community have used Shannon Stein, all with great results. She's smart and tough, and I would recommend her to anyone seeking family law counsel."
"Shannon is a capable attorney, with a good deal of experience in Family Law. She is reasonable, responsible, and highly ethical. It was a pleasure to work with her, even though our clients were at odds."
"Shannon is a capable and experienced attorney. She's easy going and well respected within the local family law bar. A good lawyer to have on your side."
"I endorse this lawyer. Shannon is a great leader and has provided the Santa Clara Bar Association with much needed direction as president. She is also a competence and good family law attorney with plenty of years of experience."
"I can't say enough good things about Shannon. She is a recognized leader in the area of family law, an accomplished professional and a wonderful advocate for her clients. The people I have referred to Shannon are always pleased and more than happy to have her on their side."
