Mr. Curtiss is licensed to practice law before all federal and state courts in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar and graduated from UCLA Law School in 2005. Since 2005, Mr. Curtiss has counseled employers and employees on a wide range of employment-related matters. His practice regularly involves representing clients in single and multi-plaintiff lawsuits, as well as providing advice and counsel to employers and employees on employment-related topics.
Mr. Curtiss has substantial experience representing clients in all manner of venues, from regulatory proceedings before the California Labor Commissioner to federal appeals before the Ninth Circuit. He has prosecuted numerous actions from their inception through jury trial victory, most recently in 2018.
In 2005, Mr. Curtiss joined Varner & Brandt LLP, one of the leading law firms in the Inland Empire region of California. Between 2005 and 2008, his practice focused on defending businesses against employment and commercial lawsuits, including wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation and other wrongful termination claims, as well as commercial cases involving breach of contract and business tort claims.
Since 2008, Mr. Curtiss has been a member of the Stanzler Law Group (formerly Stanzler, Funderburk & Castellon LLP) in Palo Alto, California, where he has continued to practice employment and commercial litigation. In addition, he expanded his practice to include providing advice and counsel to Silicon Valley executives and employers regarding a wide array of matters, including compensation negotiations and disputes, defending trade secret misappropriation claims, conducting workplace investigations, as well as advising employers and employees about terminations and other workplace issues.
Mr. Curtiss became a member of the California State Bar Labor & Employment Law Section in 2018. He is also an ongoing member and contributor to Next Concept Human Resources Association, one of the leading human resources organizations in Northern California.
Mr. Curtiss graduated from UCLA Law School in 2005, where he was a member of the Journal of Law & Technology and externed for the U.S. Attorney’s Office – Civil Fraud Division. Prior to law school, he graduated with distinction from U.C. Berkeley, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2002. He remains an active reader and follower of political, economic and philosophical topics, which were some of his favorite subjects to study at Cal.
Mr. Curtiss grew up in San Francisco. He attended grade school at Ecole Notre Dame des Victoires in Nob Hill and Saint Ignatius College Preparatory in the Outer Sunset (1998). He is an avid tennis player, regularly participating in United States Tennis Association leagues and tournaments. You can also find him at the gym at the local YMCA or at any of the fine arts museums in the San Francisco Bay Area.
