Today I woke up in my own bed!

About six months ago my wife and I were having a hard time in our life. I got mad and ended up hitting her in the face with a frozen stake. Her face was very bruised after. I was charged with Felony domestic violence. This week we got my probation report which suggested that I do six months in county... jail. I was guilty. I did the crime. My wife and I worked out our issues in counseling and are moving forward together. Yesterday was my scentencing date. I knew in a misdomeanor case I once got for no license that I would be given time to set my life up around my punishment so I had NO idea that I was to be taken into custody right there at the sentencing. I have two jobs to support my family and neither of my employers knew that I would be going away for a while; I thought I had a week or two to break the news. Also my child has an appointment at Stanford today and I had to take him as my wife has to work. I really had no clue that I would be going to jail yesterday and I would be waking up in a cell this morning. When my wife and I told Mr. Mills that I did not realize that I would be going into custody today and that I work two jobs to support my family and that I have a son with a very serious illness that requires 24 hour care he told us that he would do is best to make something good happen; this was outside the courtroom five minutes before I had to be before the judge. Mr. Mills told us there was little hope for anything but maybe a day to take my child to his appointment but even that was a reach. With this little notice Mr. Mills made his pitch to the Judge. In a packed courtroom I figured the judge was not going to be getting creative. Mr. Mills so nailed what was going on in my life and how fragile our life situation was, it was like he had been living this nightmare will me for years; how did he know? Not only did he get 60 days shaved from my 180 days (to 120 days) but he also, somehow, got the Judge to buck the probation officer and the DA and she allowed me to sign up for the Home Confinment program instead of actual jail. I now can keep my jobs and be there for my family. My wife and I left in tears. I could see the look of surprise on the faces of the other lawyers as we walked out of the courtroom. If you are in trouble then call Mr. Mills and with any luck you might wake up in your own bed. Thank you Mr. Mills!

Fist of Two déjà vu cases

My ex got drunk and attacked me at the beach while she was drink. It was out of the blue and in front of many friends. She drove off and we spread out to find her. She saw my truck and rammed me. I called the cops. I was sober. She was drunk and lippy. I was arrested and she got a ride home by the co...ps. I was charged with domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon. Shawn took my case and told me it was cut a deal or go to trial. I chose trial. After a year of grueling discovery our trial date arrived. Shawn was ready to go. We worked for weeks. On the morning of trial, dressed in our suits, the DA saw the light and dropped the case. They knew Shawn was not bluffing and the DA did not want to play. I went Free!!

Not Guilty On All Counts!

Even though all these lawyers crow about how good they are, after finding that several of the local attorneys had never made it to trial, meaning all they do is plead their clients guilty to something i realized that speaking to several lawyers was a good thing to do; it makes the honest lawyers stan...d out. My problem? I Am Not guilty!! Mr. Mills (sorry Shawn, but it is a sign of respect) gave me actual case numbers of RECENT felony trial wins. Mr. Mills told me the only way to "win" a domestic violence case was by winning at trial; I was scared but Mr. Mills told me that I had a winnable case. HE just had this look in his eye like he was telling the truth, he was different than the other lawyers I met with. My trial lasted three days (domestic battery, fase imprisonment, tampering with a cell phone). After four hours of waiting the jury came and proved that my lawyer was not blowing smoke; NOT GUILTY on all counts. My family cried, I had my life back. When you pick your lawyer make sure that they really have trial experience, not just a scary web page. If you are charged in Monterey County with a crime, call Shawn, a real trial lawyer!

Carjacking no more!

Our 18 year old son got really really drunk and got into a stranger's car and told them to get out. He was charged with attempted carjacking. The people in the car took the keys so he could not drive off if he wanted to. Our son was charged with a felony carjacking and resisting arrest charges. He... was look looking at many years in state prison, a felony record and a ruined life for one night of being a stupid drunkenn kid. Shawn (he hates Mr. Mills) took our son's case to trial got GOT HIM OFF. Shawn saved our family many of thousands of dollars, but more importantly he spared our son and whole family a lifetime nightmare. Our family is highly grateful to Shawn for his hard work and compassion towards our son and family. We hope to never need his services again, but if your family does you are in good hands. God Bless. A thankful mom and family. Shawn Mills rocked!

"I endorse this lawyer. As a family law attorney, many of my clients either have pending criminal matters or have a friend or family looking for a criminal defense attorney. I have known many over the years, some could say they are a dime a dozen. But nor Sean. Sean is a special kind of guy and only men like Sean keep this country from sliding into a society that just accuses then shoots people. If a client is guilty, Sean is going to make the government work to prove its case as the constitution mandates. He has an excellent record of beating the government, yet acting in a ethical and respectful way. I refer clients from all over California to him. He is an expert on the law and an advocate that is rarely found. There are no just cutting deals with Sean, he makes sure all his clients are taken care of."

"I have known Attorney Mills for many years, as a friend, lawyer in the community and have done several cases with him jointly. I can easily recommend him for criminal work. Just recently he did a case where the defendant was arrested with 24 pounds of pot possessed for sales (obviously a felony)...in the end, with Mr. Mills representation, no time was imposed on the defendant. He cares about his cases ,he cares about his clients, and he likes what he does...finding all those 3 things in one attorney is a rarity."
