Savvy Negotiator- best representation possible

I want to take a moment to thank the entire staff at the Daniel J. O'Neill law office in SLO town for their 2+ year work handling my neck injury claim. When I was involved in what I thought was a typical rear end accident in 2019, I didn’t realize my neck complaints would persist and worsen over tim...e. It got to the point where conservative measures were not providing any relief but I had gotten to the point of just accepting that the pain I had was something I would need to get used to. After an initial consultation with his law office, Mr. O’Neill surprising offered to file a claim on my behalf. Not only did he offer to represent me, he also provided a different perspective regarding pain clinic procedures that were not previously considered. After several unsuccessful procedures locally in the Bay Area, he referred me to Dr. Jordon, a Pain Specialist in Santa Monica, that was able to identify the source of injury after specific diagnostic testing. It took approximately a year of procedures and tests, but eventually we were able to find some relief and resume a more normal lifestyle with the family. During this whole time, I never inquired about how much this case might be worth since my main intention was getting pain relief. Throughout the whole process of collecting records, submitting forms and discovery, the entire office staff was patient, respectful and thorough. It was clear that the behind the scenes work of the case was extensive. Mr. O’Neill and the support staff spent countless hours with preparation for our deposition, the IME and progressive negotiations with the insurance provider. In the end, with much diligence and savvy negotiations, I received a settlement beyond any of my expectations. I understand the settlement will not cure my neck issue, but it does provide some peace of mind for covering future care and future needs of my family. With much gratitude, I want to send my kindest wishes to the legal team of Daniel J. O’Neill. Your efforts and results are extraordinary!

Treated Disrespectfully and Uncaringly by Mr. O'Neill

After consultation, Mr. O'Neill agreed to take on my car accident case. He gave me instruction on what information he needed me to gather for him; police report, hospital and medical records etc. and I got busy doing just that. I called him back to explain that the hospital could not forward my rec...ords for a month to which he replied that it was fine. Just after I received the records and had compiled all the required information, I received an email from Mr. O'Neill's assistant that he was too busy and would no longer be helping me. I was devastated! I emailed and phoned him once, imploring him to please help me. If he was too busy at the time, i was willing to wait, but he still refused. i had only spoken to him a few times initially and the one other time regarding the wait for hospital records, so i wonder if it was not for some other reason than just being 'too busy' as I was willing to wait. I had spent much effort and money to gather all my information and records together ready to send to him. If Mr. O'Neill had indeed become too busy, then I feel it would have been respectful and more appropriate to refuse to represent the new cases rather than refuse my case that he had accepted a month prior. after my initial consult with Mr. O'Neill, i felt so hopeful and thought I had found a good, caring person to help me. Words cannot express the emotional devastation I felt when he 'dumped' me as it was during a very tragic and difficult time in my life. I feel Mr. O'Neill treated me disrespectfully and uncaringly.

Unfortunately this rating was by an anonymous "client" and as such it is difficult to respond specifically. Even if i knew who submitted the rating I ethically could not discuss his or her case in a public forum. In any event , I see many potential clients. I have been in practice for 38 years. I receive many referrals. There is no way i can represent everyone who contacts me. Many times it is necessary to review medical records, police reports, etc. to determine if i can represent someone. I don't believe this person ever signed a retainer agreement but they may have. I limit the number of clients i represent so I can do the best job possible for my clients. This means the cases i ultimately take involve very serious injuries. I know everyone feels their injuries are serious but i am necessarily required to weigh a sprain / strain case against a surgical case or wrongful death case or a case involving brain injury to a child. It is difficult declining clients who have legitimate claims. When i do i generally refer them to another attorney whom I respect. I understand this person's frustration and genuinely feel badly for him/ her because I was the attorney he/ she wanted to represent them. Unfortunately, with my caseload this was not possible.

Best Attorney in the Central Coast!!!

I could not have asked for a better lawyer in Mr. O’Neill. My case lasted five and a half years and Mr. O’Neill remained steadfast in his pursuit of justice for me. I had been in a car accident, which left me with physical injuries. Mr. O’Neill made sure that I was well cared for and helped me get re...lief for my pain. My case did go to trial and Mr. O’Neill’s preparedness helped me feel confident during that difficult time. He saw that we were well compensated for past injuries as well as for future costs. His understanding of the system was phenomenal and he was always caring and in control. I felt as if I was being taken care of by a family member. My family and I were not treated as mere clients but as people who needed help through a very rough time in their lives. I would also like to commend Mr. O'Neill's staff. They always addressed me in a very personal way and showed concern about what was going on in my case throughout the time. Thank you everyone for your hard work. I will always be grateful to you.

Amazing Attorney

Mr. O'Neill was hired to help my mother with an auto accident that she was in. Dealing with the insurance became a nightmare for us. Mr. O'Neill was referred by a friend of mine and we are so thankful we found him. He is by far the best attorney I have worked with. Not only is he professional, but... his staff is amazing. I just love them all and now consider them great friends. The compassion that he and his staff showed my mother during her ordeal was outstanding. I highly recommend him.

"Dan is smart, experienced, and hard working. But what makes Dan such a great lawyer is that he truly cares about his clients. I have worked with him using Trial Lawyers College techniques and he knows how to listen to clients and witnesses and not just understand them, but be able to tell their stories in a compelling way. If I ever need a personal injury attorney, Dan is my first choice. I have referred many of my criminal clients to him and no one has ever been disappointed."
