Thomas Rodger Chapin

I retained Thomas Chapin on 11-15-2017 after being retained he did not return my phone calls or texts when I had concerns about my case. I did not hear from him for 6 months. The day before I was supposed to return to court, his office left me a voice mail saying they continued my child custody case ...for another 90 days. Continuing the case prolonged the time I was to be on monitored visitation. Thomas Chapin did not feel the need to consult with me before continuing my case. Thomas Chapin's use of profanity is not only offensive its unprofessional.

Hired Thomas to fight a ticket I got a couple years ago that was in collections. He assured me, in writing, before signing the agreement that he would have it out of collections and have my license back within a couple weeks. 2 MONTHS later, he still had not been to court. I had to threaten to ask... for my money back, and then he assured me he would be able to get in front of the judge, then when he did (assuming he actually did) he said, sorry, he couldn't do anything and I should just pay the full ticket. He's probably well intentioned, but it was clear he had way too much on his plate and was a total waste of time for me. I also had to frequently remind him in conversations about critical bits of information he seemed to have forgotten.

This guy was everything we wanted him to be. A good advocate; reasonably priced; reliable; effective. We were contesting an "unsafe speed" citation resulting from a rear-ender on PCH. Trial was in Newport Beach. He appeared on our behalf. He explained our options to us so we felt like we knew our cho...ices. He showed up early in court to review possible witnesses. He interviewed a couple of potential witnesses. Ultimately he got the case dismissed. I would hire him again (but hope never to have the occasion).
