Capable, calculating and compassionate

I left my prior attorney after 6 months of often being left alone in an intensely ugly divorce, due to a lack of education of what I was legally expected to do and why or regular communication of the notices from opposing counsel about ex-parte and contempt, etc. I relied more on Google as a resourc...e for my life spinning out of control than the person I hired to protect me. Then I was referred to Eric by a friend who knew I needed someone who was responsive, had the ability to react to the immediate needs while keeping me informed and educated on the situation. My divorce was a multi-year process that involved an ex who had mistresses, lost his job of 28 years, substance abuse and a list of other issues, some known and lots of surprises. Eric was wise on when and how he engaged me for the legal dialogue that occurs between attorneys. It didn't take me long to learn to use my energy on my children, my job that I needed to keep and myself and trust I had a pitbull who was passionate about my well being. Eric would often work weekends and respond after hours when I needed, to hit a deadline or just to hear his assuring words in order to get a night of sleep. He thinks outside of the box and has the best interest of the family unit in mind and until someone goes through this ordeal, its unimaginable to realize how important it is to have someone keeping their eye on the total picture. Eric is well respected by the judges and wastes no time. I never felt like he was over charging or wasteful of my money. The combination of he and his partner / wife is awesome. One plus one makes three at the Ludwig Law Center! They made the worst part of my life managable and ultimately a success for me and my children. I came out of that ordeal a lot more whole than others who I know who've got a divorce and the Ludwig's are responsible for it.

Behind the Scenes

Eric came at the recommendation of a friend and he seemed to have done a great job for them. He has a great personality and his partner (wife) Michelle is a smart cookie. However, communications between the opposing counsel and this attorney would transpire and on the last couple of emails I would ...finally be included in the process. In one instance the opposing counsel sent correspondence that was acted on and I was never advised until I had a routine appointment to discuss the case. Not professional nor well represented in that event, at all. In court, I often found myself setting alone while he and the opposing counsel were "elsewhere" (other court rooms/attorney room) working out the details of the divorce settlement. Court order after court order were drafted and the other side was not complying and despite my complaints and insistence nothing was filed to stop the behavior. The next attorney I hired reviewed the file and found there were numerous poorly written agreements and a few well written ones. However, the poorly written ones were so costly they undid any that were favorable creating a cavernous financial deficit that I can never recover from. It was my impression that Eric, while very capable, is spread too thin to represent his clients best interests with consistency. I regret taking the recommendation of my friend and believe I would have been better served by an attorney who spent the time billed to me working for me. It seemed in court Eric was working to keep several plates spinning between several clients or tasks.
