Joseph Glenn Higuera

I would recommend anyone who has been hit by a motorist while on a bike to sit down and speak with Joe before committing to a lawyer. I owe a tremendous thanks to Joe, Susan, Erica for helping me and my family through a terrible situation. Joe Higuera and his team were incredibly responsive, knowle...dgeable, and friendly. When the insurance company refused to work with me and my family, Joe and his team worked together to bring the case to a quick resolution in our favor. I was hit by a car driven by a young, unlicensed driver. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance and later admitted for my injuries. When released, it was several months before I could begin to exercise again. In the mean time I had a mountain a medical bills and a bike that was in ruins. A close friend had recommended I speak with Joe Higuera because he had helped another cyclist after he was hit by a car while riding his bike. Amazingly enough, I was not killed and the bike was still in one piece, but would not roll. Every bike mechanic, bike manufacturer, and online article I read stated DO NOT RIDE the bike. Words like structural integrity and catastrophic failure were common. From the time I first contacted Joe’s office, he was very responsive to calling me back. He suggested we meet at the earliest opportunity and made himself available at my convenience. When we spoke, he was friendly and professional and welcomed my questions. I don’t have much experience talking or working with lawyers, and expected the conversation to be more like reading the fine print in a home mortgage. Joe was down to earth and easy to talk with and understand, and to my surprise, he was an avid cyclist and triathlete. This last part turned out to be critical to my case. As I came to find out after speaking with several lawyers, the medical aspect of an injury case is fairly straight forward. If you have insurance, which I do, everything goes by a process that follows the rules and regulations of the law and your own insurance limits. But for property, it’s an entirely different set of rules that are driven primarily by the insurance of the guilty party. This can be messy, labor intensive, and time consuming for both the injured and the lawyer representing the injured. Other lawyers I spoke with said they would handle the bodily injury portion of my claim, but that I should pursue the property (bike and gear) damages on my own. This was not going anywhere with me trying to push the case that my bike was worth a lot more than what they wanted to offer. The insurance of the guilty party wanted to offer me $1,300 for my “property” loss (an all carbon frame w/carbon wheels). This was humiliating and discouraging to me, but not to Joe. Joe stated he was not surprised and he and his team immediately put forth a plan to press the insurance company to more appropriately compensate me for my property loss (my bike). During the entire process Joe or one of his associates, Susan or Erica, would contact me and ask for information or my thoughts on which way they should go. Joe would make his recommendations, which were always to push harder and get the insurance company to step up and recognize the true value of my bike. In the end, he got the insurance company to pay a very fair reimbursement of the value of my bike. I was more than happy, and extremely impressed by his commitment to managing and settling my case with the insurance company. I can say for certain that on my own, or with other lawyers, as good as they were, I would not have received the value I did for my bike. Joe was also able to settle the medical claims in a very short period of time.

You will be more than satisfied with the results and he'll eliminate the headaches associated with the insurance companies trying to screw you.

My car was rear-ended by a drunk driver and the car was totaled ... with me in it. The result were the expected neck and shoulder injuries and an ambulance trip to the hospital while the car was dragged off the sidewalk and hauled away by a tow truck. The check was in the higher replacement range and made out to me. Shortly thereafter, I began to see a beginnings of a steady flow of paperwork from the various agencies involved: the ambulance, the tow truck, the hospital, the sheriff's investigation, the prosecuting attorney and so on. All of it was redirected to Susan's people. Whenever I began to wonder how things were going the phone would ring or an email would pop up. Often, Joe would call or email himself or it would be Susan. Beginning to end, I went to Joe's office about four times: the first day to hire him, twice to drop off requested documentation (which couldn't be emailed) and once to pick up my final check. I'm much better now and I would have no second thoughts in recommending Joe Higuera to friend or family.

Joe and his staff were so helpful. This is an attorney that WILL answer his CELL phone if you call. Assertive to the max and definitely a PLAINTIFF law firm. I was warned to NOT get a "wanna be" Defense firm who works with the Insurance companies. Joe Higuera is not liked by the Insurance companie...s, and THAT is a positive when you have a claim against them. Absolutely no regrets with this Law Firm.
