The Defendant was accused of groping a teenager at a store in Disneyland. The teenager's friend witnessed the incident. Both young women reported the incident to Disney security. The Defendant was c ... harged with Annoying/Molesting a Child (Penal Code section 647.6) and Sexual Battery (Penal Code section 243.4). If convicted of either charge, the Defendant would be forced to register as a sex offender for life pursuant to Penal Code section 290. During negotiations with the prosecutors, Fred Thiagarajah managed to get the offer reduced to simple battery with no registration as a sex offender required; however, the Client had always maintained his innocence and insisted on trial. The jury trial lasted four days and both teenagers testified against the Defendant. However, Fred Thiagarajah was able to convince the jury that the contact was accidental and the Defendant had no sexual intent at the time. The jury came back in one hour and Defendant was acquitted of all charges.

However, after extensive discussions with the judge and the prosecutor, Fred Thiagarajah convinced them both to allow an early termination of probation if Client could pay more fines and do some Caltrans labor.

Client was a union leader participating in a strike. There was a major altercation between employees who wanted to strike and those who wanted to work. Client was accused of assault and battery again ... st three separate "victims". The prosecutor was willing to reduce the charges to disturbing the peace since Client didn't have a criminal record, but Client insisted that she was innocent. Fred Thiagarajah forced the case to trial. A week before the trial, the prosecutor called Mr. Thiagarajah to discuss the case and Mr. Thiagarajah pointed out all the holes in the prosecution's case. On the first day of jury trial, the prosecutor dismissed all charges.
