Very happy with my results

I hired Gary to represent me in a workers comp case in which I was severely concussed. I didn't even know I was eligible for a settlement, I was looking for a lawyer because I'd had been out of work on workers comp for 3 months and figured it was time to see a pro to see what my options were in case ...I didn't get better. Gary explained the entire process to me and what was going to change and lo and behold the attitude of every one of my Doctors suddenly changed from trying to push me back to work to trying to make sure I was getting actually getting better. As to some of the complaints here, Gary is a in a family operation and not a big law firm. We did most of our correspondence over e-mail and I know I annoyed him with questions but I'm guessing so does every client he has. And if he is in court he can't exactly answer his phone. When I had valid concerns and questions he answered them immediately...but yeah sometimes I'd ask a bunch of random what-if questions and I wouldn't hear back from him. Because he's a lawyer and he's got important things to do. But when my workers comp insurance company intentionally tried to screw me he was on it. My disability checks were turned off and I was given 4 different reasons why...Gary got the checks turned back on and the missing amount added to my settlement. At one point we were talking about a particular settlement amount that had been offered and I said I just wanted my company to treat me like they said they treated their employees. I said I was pissed and in my upcoming deposition I might not be able to contain my anger. He talked me down and said that just because the other side is being corrupt doesn't mean we have to be. We can win by being the better people and being right. My first thought was "actually I could use a little more teeth in my shark there Mr. Jackson" but he was not only right, he delivered. He called the insurance company on their actions and threatened to take them to EC court and that's when my checks came back and my settlement offer jumped another $12000. The legal system takes time, lawyers are busy people and you are not their only client. Gary always managed to get back to me about the important stuff and came through on everything he said he would. I would definitely recommend him.

Gary

Well I really don’t see any progress with my case . I have spoken with him I just don’t know what the status is with my case .

Unprofessional

He said he would get me the maximum he can get me out of my settlement. Then ended up settling for the least he was demanding from them. Him nor his staff answered any of my calls. He gave me the break down of the amount I was supposed to get and it was less than what I should have of received and en...ded up incorrect.

Thank you for your review. Unfortunately, you have lied and that is a criminal offense, called defamation. A work comp attorney does not settle a work comp case. Only the client can settle the case, by signing settlement documents. The attorney does "settle" the case, the client does, in this case YOU. Your accusation that I am purposely settling your case for less than we could have gotten you is extremely ignorant; 1. An attorney is not going to recommend a settlement to you for less than the maximum that can be gotten, since the attorney gets a percentage of the settlement, and 2. No one gets what they ask for! Negotiation school 101 teaches you ask for more than you can get. So actually, this shows I did a terrific job in starting the negotiations high. This is what we all want our attorneys to do for us; shoot high! If you think there is a discrepancy in the settlement breakdown we provided you, you should reach out for an explanation and to see if we made a mistake. It can happen. A number can be typed incorrectly. We are not perfect and always admit any mistakes and correct them. Why don't you reveal your name to the world so we can look into your case and set the record straight? Or do you want to remain anonymous because you know you are lying? This is very cowardly, in my opinion. Finally, we answer calls as necessary but most of the time we just text our clients since this is what they prefer. We have an App that allows all our clients to text us with any questions or concerns. We are the only firm with the Case status app in Southern California. Our clients love the App with the 24/7 updates, texting ability, and they are never in the dark about where the case is in the process and the next steps. We are proud of our commitment to our clients and especially our dedication to excellent client communications. The proof is in the App we have developed at great expense to us, but free to our beloved clients.

Nightmare

I do not recommend Gary Jackson for anyone seeking representation in a workers’ compensation case. My experience with him was extremely disappointing and distressing. I hired Mr. Jackson 2/2024 for a WorkComp case involving multiple injuries which was in one was in settlement stage. During the cou...rse of representation: • He never provided guidance about how to access or manage medical care. I had to handle all treatment and appointments on my own, without his help. • One of my three medical reports went completely unrated, and this wasn’t told to me by him — it was found by the court help center, not my attorney. This could have directly impacted the value of my case. • A settlement offer was sent to his office on May 11, and he never informed me. I only learned about it on May 23 when I spoke to the defense attorney office directly. • After I dismissed him on May 21, I have made multiple requests for my full case file. Over two months later, I still haven’t received it. I’ve filed a formal complaint with the California State Bar, and there is an active investigation into his handling of my case. I’m posting this review so others are aware and can protect themselves. Based on my personal experience, I strongly urge anyone to think twice before hiring Gary Jackson.

Uncommunicative

Inbeen sending emails to mr. Jackson and still have not reapomded to me yet since apr the 6th . he changed the settlement amount to lesser than i deserved. I just saw that someone got 1million and something thousand for permanent disability and future medical and is unfair what they offered.me . he ...ignores all my calls dont keeo me updated and time is running out. I felt alone after the first two years since he low offered my case and rejected a small settlement thrown for my case without my consent . i really am so close to rraching out to the BAR and show all my emails of proof that responses are always late and when i do get a reply is for another thing that could have been done the first time he asked for those things .. Think about it and be at your own risk since this.is my honest ans simcere review to this lawfirm . one thing i know is that if you do good for people you get good back so it has me womdering if this lawfirm still is a running business.. Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2015.

Discipline, Probation; no Actual Suspension issued in CA, 2015

updated on 05/05/2016

This sanction means the attorney had a suspension placed on hold (and ultimately removed) by complying with certain requirements.

Gary’s comment:

“Client moved to Sacramento area and wanted a local attorney. A substitution of attorney was sent to client to sign and return. Client never returned the substitution of attorney. our office inadvertently indicated her case was closed in our database. Therefore we did not respond to a Petitin to dismiss her case. Case was dismissed without prejudice and we are reinstating her case with no adverse affect to client. Client has requested that we continue to represent her.”
