Elizabeth Nigro worked for 10 years as a legal secretary at Orange County personal injury and civil litigation law firms, while raising the first two of her three children, to eventually attend Western State University as a “special student.” Tenacity, a passion for the law, and hard work drove her to succeed in becoming an attorney in 1995. Ms. Nigro ‘s compassion for others called her to focus her law practice on family law. She became a Certified Family Law Specialist, by the State Bar of California, in 2011.
Ms. Nigro has a talent for understanding the wants and needs of parties to divorce and child custody proceedings. Whenever possible, she works with the parties and counsel to reach mutually-agreeable resolutions to challenging disputes over child custody, support and property rights. Her expertise includes complex child custody cases, including international child custody cases; high asset and income cases, including concealed asset and income issues.
Ms. Nigro is also an experienced trial attorney, and provides the type of zealous advocacy clients want when there is no other option but to fight for their rights in court.
Ms. Nigro has three children, one grandchild, and 3 dogs. She is an active member of both the Orange County and Los Angeles County Bar Associates Family Law Sections, and a member of the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association. Ms. Nigro is an arbitrator for the Orange County Bar Association, Mandatory Fee Arbitration Committee. Her firm regularly volunteers services for Laura’s House. She enjoys being an amateur psychologist, and cycles and runs marathons in her spare time.

I hired Liz in 2021. I was a victim f Domestic Violence and Liz convinced me I would lose nothing in this divorce because of it. Well I did lose part of my Pension, almost my house, and acquired my spouse’s legal fees. Family Court could care less about Domestic Violence regarding divorces. This is C...

Not only did I lose everything financially--but Ms. Nigro robbed me of my self esteem, my emotional well-being and my dignity. Although I provided evidence my ex had perjured himself in court, Liz refused to use it. She, my ex, and my ex's attorney all ended up with a larger settlement than I. Anythi...
This is a fake review, probably from my competition. Anyone I have represented knows I am a zealous advocate for my clients and many times put their needs before my own. I have an unparalleled skill set which I put to good use for my clients, whether that means putting together a settlement that resolves the case before the community estate is incinerated with attorney fees, or taking the case to trial when there is no other option. I take no prisoners if we go to trial. I also treat my clients with respect, and work hard to help them have hope for a bright future after divorce.

It seems like Liz just gave my ex everything they asked for, and more; she got more than half of our assets; and Liz didn't really understand the financial issues (real estate; defined benefit plan etc). Then Liz wanted me to agree to give her non-modifiable spousal support until she can retire (14 ...
Jim, it is unfortunate that you chose to post a false narrative about my representation of you in your case. I absolutely understood the issues in your case. Under community property laws, your wife was entitled to half of all assets acquired during your marriage. We didn't litigate your case because you chose to negotiate and enter into a stipulated judgment, and you were quite pleased with the resolution at the time. If you think your wife received more than half of your assets, it is perhaps because you forgot you underpaid spousal support for more than a year and had arrearages of more than $100,000 that had accrued. If I recall correctly, her attorney was pursuing you with a contempt citation prior to the settlement. At any rate, I gave you a lengthy free phone consult about seeking a modification of spousal support and you never took any action. I reached out to you to discuss making things right and you never responded. I wish you the best.

"I opposed Attorney Nigro in a very contentious matter. I found her to be highly prepared, focused and professional. It was a challenge and a pleasure to do battle with her. I gladly endorse this lawyer."
"I recommend Elizabeth Nigro for any family law matter. She has the education, experience, and personality to handle the most complex and sensitive issues in your case. For the last seven years, I've personally witnessed clients seek her help with overwhelming problems. She really cares about her clients. Nobody does a better job at negotiating a settlement, or taking a case to trial. If you have legal problems over child custody, support, divorce, domestic violence, complex property division, or even international/interstate legal conflicts, you need to contact Ms. Nigro."
"I endorse Attorney Liz Nigro. I have had the pleasure of working with Liz on cases in the past and found her to be communicative and dedicated in her client advocacy and her professional demeanor is second to none. I hope to work with Liz again in the future."
"I endorse this lawyer. I have had more than one case with Liz Nigro. The first case we had was several years ago. I recall her being quite aggressive and yet still very professional. She did a good job for her client. I am currently in trial with Liz. She is an excellent trial lawyer. She does not waste time. She gets right to the point. That is important as it saves money for her client. She tried to settle our case as any ethical lawyer should do. When our client's would not agree to settle she promptly proceeded to try the case. She is aggressive and at the same time very professional. I would heartily recommend the services of Ms. Nigro to anybody who wants personal attention and needs a strong lawyer who will not back down."
