I’ve always found it frustrating that people usually only leave reviews when something goes wrong, and don’t bother when things are going well. So I wanted to share a fair, real assessment of Kayce and her law firm.
I’m currently in an ongoing custody situation involving two states. The case actua...lly started in Colorado, and as it escalated there, especially once it turned into an emergency order, I realized I couldn’t responsibly handle it on my own. That escalation is what forced me to retain counsel in both Colorado and California.
Before all of this, I had very limited experience with the court system, so trying to understand everything and respond correctly has been a massive undertaking. In the beginning, I honestly thought I could handle it pro se because I had successfully, or at least very nearly successfully, completed a probate proceeding myself. I didn’t think this situation would escalate anywhere close to what it became.
At first I tried to handle things pro se, but once the Colorado case intensified, I knew I needed real legal counsel. Since hiring Kayce, she has been extremely professional, attentive, and prompt, even during moments when I was overwhelmed and just trying to process everything. She’s been great at taking the information I bring her and narrowing it down to what actually matters to the court, while cutting out the excess noise.
With her help, we drafted an ex parte request in California to address the situation and push toward getting my kids returned. Because of that, the courts are now communicating with each other and hearings have been set. I don’t know the final outcome yet, but I do know that without her guidance I would have been reacting from stress and confusion instead of presenting things in a focused, court relevant way.
She has also worked alongside my counsel in Colorado to help pursue the best available options, and that coordination has been a huge help in a situation that spans two states.
I may not be able to keep using Kayce all the way through solely because of the cost of litigation in general, but from what I’ve seen and from my own research, she’s reasonably priced. More importantly, she has worked with me on practical options so I can stay protected legally while still retaining her counsel, and that has meant a lot. I was caught off guard by how fast everything escalated, and Kayce has been understanding and has done everything she can to remain helpful and advocate for me.
If I end up having to stop working with her, it would be strictly due to my financial situation, not because of the quality of her work.
Hopefully I won’t need legal help like this again, but if I do, I would absolutely use Kayce again.
