also known as Evan L. Smith
My practice emphasizes tax, business law, and insolvency matters, including Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization cases, and alternatives to bankruptcy such as loan workouts, state court supervised entity dissolutions, and Assignments for the Benefit of Creditors. I also handle federal, state, and local civil tax matters, both in and out of court, including audits, penalty abatement applications, appeals, and petitions for redetermination.
I represent individuals and entities including debtors, creditors, others affected by another party's bankruptcy or insolvency case, and taxpayers. I have substantial experience in probate and trust matters, and early in my career was employed as a Tax professional at a Big 8 public accounting firm. I work closely with my clients to meet their objectives in a professional, thorough, and cost effective manner. I have been AV rated by Martindale Hubbell since 1989, the highest possible rating for an attorney for both ethical standards and legal ability.

Evan Smith was wonderful to work with. He listened. He was professional and patient while he explained the procedure for the Chapter 7 we filed. Mr. Smith was available via phone, text or email at all times and was efficient in returning contact. He represented me well at my hearing. I was gratefu...

Attorney Evan Smith, is one of a kind attorney that cares for his clients legal situations. I am very please with his work and how he handled my case to get it resolve. I recall how concern I was about my case wondering if I was going to loose or not but Evan came on the scene and assured me tha...

We had a complex bankruptcy. He helped to protect more assests than we anticipated. Discharged nearly $1 million in tax liability. Fought off many creditor attacts. Very pleasant. Sometimes hard to get hold of.

He was a good resource and got things done for us. He was very knowledgeable and was a great person to just ask basic questions. He handed a debt issue for us and took care of it with guile and ability. The only complaint I have was that during economic climate such as what we're going throu...
"I wholeheartedly endorse Evan. I have known Evan for over 20 years and have worked with him on several cases. My prior Firm was engaged in litigation involving breach of a land sales agreement. The contract involved the purchase of a very large parcel of land that was going to be sub-divided and developed for multi-million- dollar homes. To avoid the sale, the defendant filed for bankruptcy and we were forced to litigate in territory unfamiliar to any of the Firm’s partners—Bankruptcy Court. Without Evan’s guidance, the defendant’s strategy may have prevailed in denying our clients the benefit of their bargain. Instead, Evan led us to victory and our clients obtained the result they wanted."
