During a recent crisis in my stepfather's situation, Mom was being asked to immediately pay $15,000 to move him from the hospital to a care facility. She was panicked and I wasn't sure what to do. I spoke with Herb on the phone that same day and he did some quick checks into their situation, made a... couple of recommendations, and gave me referrals to some reliable professionals who could help with some of the things that are not legal matters (a Medi-Cal specialist, and someone who helps find the right fit in care facilities). He is a great listener and I could tell right away that he really knew what to look for to assess the situation and guide us. At every point along the way, he was clear and honest, while also being wonderfully patient and warm with Mom. He did not try to oversell or over-bill for his services; he guided us at each step to do only what we needed at that time. But he also helped provide some simple, vital recommendations for things like managing Mom's limited financial resources as we work through the process of applying for Medi-Cal. Long story short - with the help of Herb, and the two people he referred, we were able to navigate this crisis fairly quickly and now have my stepfather in a very nice care facility with a much lower fee. We also understand how to manage the Medi-Cal situation and have Mom's legal documents ready (she is likely to have her own crisis some time soon) so that we will be able to manage both of their situations and keep them safe and well cared for. After only two weeks, we have the initial crisis resolved in the best possible way, and have a plan for managing the situation going forward. We accomplished more and are in a much better situation than I imagined possible two weeks ago. All thanks to Herb Chavers!

Herb Chavers helped us resolve all California trust issues for two successor trustees (family members) located outside the state, so all communications were by phone and email. My initial impression when I interviewed Herb by phone was that he was knowledgeable, was able to clearly explain the issue...s to be dealt with, and open to discussion about his background and fee structure. In our case, there were real estate issues to be resolved in addition to all the other trust issues. Heirs of the trust were located in several states. Herb guided the trustees through the process. Where there were actions that the trustees could execute on their own behalf, he gave us clear instructions, which reduced our legal fees. Herb and his staff were always available for questions and responded in a timely manner. Herb kept us informed and up to date on all matters that he handled. He completed the work for us in 2013.
