Debra Smith has represented me in my ongoing custody and visitation issues and has been such a great help to me. Debra Smith and her staff are very helpful, and knowledgeable in what they do. My husband tried to take my son away on the grounds I was unfit, yet he was not the suitable parent. Debra fought him and his attorney, and although we had to go to court more than once, we ultimately won, and I even got more time than I originally had. Very good attorney. The fees were reasonable as well and they worked with me personally, not just like I was some random client. Greatly appreciated their help. If I ever need another attorney, I will go back to them for sure.

I came to Debra not knowing what to expect from my situation, I went on her website and I she related to me. My ex-husband was a jerk and I needed out of my current situation. There is no way I could have survived my legal issues without her. So many emotions are involved when dealing with divorce and custody that it's extremely hard to handle on your own. Debra is extremely experienced in what she does. She got me out of a very bad marriage and now I have custody of my children. She showed up to every court date and made sure that I was informed on what to expect in court. She is definitely someone that I could trust. I was very nervous and didn't know what to expect when I was coming into this and she walked me through every step and made the process as easy as possible for me.

This firm is, simply put, a nightmare. Go ahead and hire them if you like paying a large sum of money for being placed in harm's way. My case was never taken seriously and was immediately sloughed off to a paralegal. My legal documents had errors, including even my request for a fee waiver, so that even after finally being able to rid myself of this firm, I couldn't even use the original documents and had to pay someone else to completely begin my divorce all over again. You will read their website and believe that they sympathize and specialize in domestic violence cases, that you will be protected and taken seriously. From the start, I was told I didn't require a restraining order. I had to put my divorce on hold one time for the sake of my own safety. When I called the firm to let them know that I was ready to continue with the divorce and was headed to a domestic violence shelter, Debra was put on the phone with me for the first time. I was urged to stay in my home, and told that my ex would be kept away from the residence. At the time, I was not informed that this would be a lengthy process and that I would not be safe during this time. Not only that, I had to email and then phone several times just to have my ex served. Finally, I emailed both Debra and the paralegal and the paralegal called me and agreed to mail the court papers to my ex. That is when the real fun began for me and my two children. My ex decided to put himself on disability and I was held in my home against my will for six excruciating months. My situation became so dire that I had my daughter report us to the school authorities and we were able to finally have my ex removed from the home. I have no doubt had a few more months gone by, I would not have survived. I then went on to file my own restraining order while struggling to rid myself of being represented by this firm. My children and I have all been diagnosed with PTSD since this time. I paid a $5,000 retainer fee for their "services". Nearly a year later, I am still struggling to get the portion of it back that wasn't used on their dangerous counsel. I cannot urge you strongly enough to avoid this firm. Please keep yourself and your children safe and find someone who really cares about your situation.

Hired Debra for domestic violence case. She was not prepared and lost my case. Very disappointed how poorly she handled my case. I should have done my homework!! She allowed the surprise witness to stay in the courtroom and listen to my testimony. When opposing counsel called their witness, she discredited all the points and testimony I gave. Debra never objected nor did she ask the witness to be removed from the courtroom. What a waste of time and money!!!!

I hired Debra with high hopes because she specializes in abuse. I very extremely disappointed when she showed up late and asked the judge to hurry since she had to teach class. She was not prepared because she showed up expecting a continuance and one was not granted, since she had already been granted one. She never filed my paperwork and just sat they as the judge gave orders for me to pay child support and attorneys fees to my spouse under bogus pay stubs and told me don't worry I'll fix it all later. Never happened. Now I have to hire an attorney to fix her mistakes and completely unethical presentation.
