About Shumika
Biography
Ms. Sookdeo has always been passionate about law and the idea of helping others combat their legal issues. She is the Managing Attorney at Robinson Sookdeo Law, a general practice law office that handles various cases involving bankruptcy law, criminal law, family law and landlord tenant issues. The office serves individuals in several counties, including Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles and Orange County.
Ms. Sookdeo graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in English. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Barry University Law School. While attending law school, Ms. Sookdeo joined one of the University’s Mock Trial teams. She interned at the Orlando, FL Public Defender Office and later at the Riverside, CA Public Defender Office; experiences that served as a springboard for Ms. Sookdeo’s skill, confidence, and aggression necessary for the courtroom.
Currently, Ms. Sookdeo is licensed to practice law in California and Florida.
Ms. Sookdeo is the President-Elect of the California Association of Black Lawyers. She previously served a three-year term as a Commissioner of the California Commission on Access to Justice. She is a Past President of the Richard T. Fields Bar Association, a legal organization devoted to community service and youth education. She is a past President of the Riverside Barristers. Ms. Sookdeo is also an avid volunteer for various organizations that assist students, low-income families and troubled youth throughout the Inland Empire and in the Los Angeles area.
