Experienced, practical and results achieved

I am a practicing attorney. When my 12-year marriage fell apart, I knew exactly who I needed to help me, Lisa Hughes. She had the experience, the breadth of knowledge and the reputation that was absolutely required to handle a very unique case that, as it turned out, broke new ground in Orange County... divorce court history. There were many things I thought I knew about the law and process as a practicing attorney, but family law was different. I would not have dared to tread this body of water alone. Lisa, and her team of experienced and helpful associates and paralegals, listened, were sensitive to each of my concerns, and guided me through the divorce maze. They put together a common sense and cost-effective strategy to achieve my goals. Further, being experienced in client relations, even I was surprised by the level of communication I received about every aspect of the case. They were efficient and informative, and continue to be. Often times, I the process triggered high emotions, but Lisa and her team provided counsel to guide me through the difficult times. As is mostly true in litigation, when the other side refuses to settle, litigation costs tend to increase, and this was especially true in my case. It was truly frustrating. My ex-spouse refused to agree to anything, which required me to go to court to obtain the most basic of orders regarding nearly every aspect of my case. Despite this situation, which has extended well over three years, Lisa has found a way to economize and keep fees reasonable. If it weren't for Lisa, and her team, me and my children would not have the orders today that protect us into the future. Whether you are forced to litigate or are lucky enough to have an amicable split, Lisa and the Hughes and Hughes firm are the trusted and experienced firm you want to achieve the results you demand.

Unscrupulous billing without delivering promise

This firm lured me in with a free consultation and a promise to relieve my support payments instantly by $10k/month. Elated I hired them on the spot.Afterpaying them $15k, I saw that they did nothing to help my case except billing me for every one in their firm to touch my file. And yet when I ask a...nyone questions nobody seems to be able to know my case or give any advice. When I said I’d have enough, they sent me another bill for $24k. I really don’t know how they sleep at night

It distresses me that you felt lured by our firm. We value every client’s opinion, even when it is anonymous. We invite the opportunity to discuss your concerns offline so that we may address specific concerns regarding your matter. While we do not generally offer free consultations, we are willing to schedule follow up consultations to ensure that both you and our firm will make a great team. With two partners and a principal, we offer the opportunity to work with the trial attorney that is right for your case. We work in a team approach, wherein each team is organized by specialty and each attorney in our office specializes in different areas of family law. As your case progresses, we ensure that your team evolves for what will work for your matter. Teams become proficient in certain aspects and assist each other on a regular basis, for example one team or attorney may be more adept at preparing for trial or responding to discovery. We believe that the team approach is an efficient means in which a client’s needs are being met by the team and/or attorney best suited for his/her case. With very limited exception, a client stays on the same team throughout his/her matter. Additionally, while we cannot guarantee a result, with over 100 years of experience between our partners and principal, our duty is to inform you of the potential outcome(s) of your matter, our experience with various judicial officers, and our advice regarding how to proceed in your matter. However, our duty is to you as our client, and as our client, we follow your instruction of how you would like your matter to proceed so long as we remain in the bounds of zealous representation and we continue to follow our ethical obligations. It appears that our relationship broke down, and if/when that happens, we immediately follow through with the request. Any incurred fees that are sought during representation or after our relationship has terminated are only for reasonable fees incurred for moving your case forward. We are willing to discuss any questions or concerns regarding fees incurred and welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns with our representation offline. We are and will remain proactive in addressing our clients’ concerns. Just as with all of our clients, we wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Reprehensible and Inexcusable!

I hired Lisa Hughes to help me with a child support issue that was fairly simple. I was promised all sorts of things and within weeks she had ripped through my $3,000 retainer like a drunk-sailor. My calls were not ever returned, nor was I sufficiently provided information as to where my $3,000 ret...ainer went. I had hired Lisa because I had been told she was aggressive for her client. Lisa was terrible about returning calls, answering questions and updating me. My retainer went quickly and I ended up hiring another attorney

Reprehensible and Inexcusable!

Several years ago, I hired Lisa Hughes to represent me in a nasty custody battle. During the consult, she appeared so warm and caring. She expressed complete empathy regarding my situation and promised that SHE would take care of me. She bragged about her successes and left me feeling that I had s...omeone in my corner who was really going to bat for me. Then I paid a 5-figure retainer...and that was the LAST I saw of Lisa Hughes. She handed me off to an underling associate that was barely out of law school. Lisa had advised me to hire a separate attorney to represent my son. She said not to worry about the $3K cost, I'd get that back in the end. She recommended the attorney and I foolishly hired him.
