If someone needs a family lawyer, he or she should definitely hire John Tannenberg. I hired him as a referral from the family law department at USD law school. John Tannenberg is the ideal lawyer because of his intelligence, de...dication, knowledge of the law, ability to argue effectively, and his basic understanding of human nature. When discussing my case, John was always very quick to get to the heart of the matter. His mind works very fast. This helps me as a client because it means less billable hours due to his efficient use of time. This helped in the courtroom too because he could respond quickly with an effective counterargument against the opposing lawyer. He really knows people well -- including what a judge will likely think of a given argument or scenario. A good lawyer needs to do this in order to best make an argument that will work effectively in the courtroom. He is great at this. During our trial, he read the judge very well and knew when to press an issue and when to back off or leave something off the table. His arguments were well thought out and organized. It was easy for the judge to follow what he was doing because his points were laid out in an orderly and logical fashion. Throughout my trial, I could tell he was personally invested. He seemed to care about my well being and the outcome of the case. I was an emotional mess at times throughout the long drawn out case, yet he never judged and consistently offered support. He helped me get custody back with my 8 year old son and even helped me get 10,000 dollars in legal fees!
