Biography
As a member of the California State Bar since 1994, Iris McKay has handled over 600 divorce cases, as a litigating attorney, mediator and consulting attorney. She has also served as a San Diego County Pro tem settlement judge.
In 2012, Ms. McKay merged her practice, The McKay Law Group with Moore, Schulman & Moore. This merger allowed her to devote more time to representing clients and advocating their interests, instead of running a law practice.
Typical clients include teachers, engineeers, lawyers, physicians and many small business owners. Clients enjoy personalized legal representation, including strategic planning to ensure that their 'divorce dollars' are spent wisely. Strategies often involve a nontraditional route of mediation and collaboration with financial and mental health experts to ensure that clients receive optimal divorce settlements, as well as long range plans for financial security.
Ms. McKay is a member of the following organizations: California Bar Association, American Bar Association, San Diego County Bar Association, Lawyer's Club, San Diego County Bar Foundation, North County California and Marriage Family Therapists, San Diego Psychologists Association and Certified Divorce Financial Analysts Association.
An active supporter of Second Saturday (a nonprofit organization to help divorcing women and men), the San Diego Museum of Photographic Arts, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and the Ronald McDonald House, Ms. McKay also volunteers her time in taking on selected pro bono cases when the rights of children or parents are in jeopardy.
