Elaine Lynne Heine

I recently retained Elaine as counsel post-judgement when my ex-husband filed an RFO for reduced child support due to his job loss. While she seems to know the law, she was ineffectual in this particular case. Most notably, she did not inform me prior to the day of our review hearing that she would... be appearing remotely, and apparently had not filed the appropriate paperwork to get permission to do so. The judge was not pleased and it was an ominous start to a very important hearing, which ended up with negative results for me. She also neglected to send me invoices for her work for over 4 months and when she finally corrected my email address in her billing system, she charged me monthly interest for past due balances though I had not received the bills before the date the interest had accrued. Lastly, she made simple typos in several Motions that I caught (the wrong name of the Petitioner, etc.). When I finally received the invoices and reviewed them thoroughly, it was very difficult for me to gauge if her billable hours were correct since some of this time was spent correcting mistakes, and for her ‘virtual appearance’ through we were only in front of the judge for less than 30mins, I was billed for 1.2 hrs of her time, I am still attempting to reconcile this with her, and it is discouraging to spend time attempting to correct a bill after the service received was also less than satisfactory. I would strongly caution against using Elaine with this experience that I had.

My spouse and her attorney were combative, aggressive and uncooperative...but, Elaine was an expert in countering every one of their negative tactics. She capably and convincingly made the case... for me in front of the judge and I was able to get a very favorable settlement. Through the whole experience, Elaine was professional, compassionate and organized. I am so fond of her after this experience that I have recommended her to anyone else who needs a family law attorney (and there are lots of us out there). Another note: when I was in court with her, it was obvious that she has an extremely positive reputation. The judge was very complimentary of the manner in which Elaine handled the case and all the objections. It made me feel good about the money I spent for excellent representation and service. She's a pro!
