One bad seed

I financed this attorneys fee for my cousin Sam Cruz (Single parent). We hired Hall, paid him in full and haven't heard from him or the courts. It's been six months since. It's safe to say Mr. Hall is not on top of his game and can't be trusted. I hope the Attorney General, The Cal Bar Assoc and, any... other government branch could help us hold Hall accountable. This situation only adds to the my cousins stress and his seven year old sons misfortune

Asked for $500 to $1,000 upfront

I have no means to validate the claims and reviews of others, except: I have received written electronic communication from him to pay $500 to $1,000 upfront to handle my eviction case. I make no comments on his abilities as a lawyer nor if he has committed the acts others have accused him of. Bas...ed on these reviews, however, I probably will not use him. That's all I have to say.

Liar, Liar, Liar…. Scam artist

I hired Mr brehme on October 28. 2022 wow was that a mistake , all he cares about is what you have in your bank account, Our trial was set for March 21,2023. I called him a few days prior no answer left him a email because we had to push the date out do yo s family emergency. He emailed me back and ...said send me over and he would take care of it…,.,, Well mr. Brehme never showed up . No call No show … so when I called him to ask him how everything went in court … he’s reply, I’ve been in trial all week … li was in complete shock, he basically told me he doesn’t remember talking with me extra .. I told him he was crazy and now I have a default judgement again me, He said he would drum up a notice to set aside default judgement and a stay of excutiion well when my 2 nd court date came around which was July 6. No call no show again and the judge informed me all the paperwork was ALL wrong that he smitted. So here we’re are again is this a joke .. ? August 21 was trail. Now I have a 25000"judgement against me . I

Angry, incompetent, dishonest, abusive, pathological

Thomas Hall Brehme IV 's reviews indicate he does to others, as he did to me for 17 months. He took a lot of money from me, promising legal services, then disappeared for months at a time, leaving me in the dark, wondering if he's ever going to answer my emails/texts/phone calls, then months later h...e responds/acts like nothing's wrong. He told me I needed to pay more money, I paid him 3 times, and he said he did legal paperwork, sent it to me, and it was all wrong, not even as I had shared with him, addressed to wrong people, addresses all mixed up and had the court send it instead of the process server I paid him for! He doesn't listen, and disappears for so long, gets everything mixed up, and blames everything on so many unlawful detainers since the pandemic, like he's too busy, not my problem. He promised to have a process server serve my defendant, he failed to do so 2 times, and it was getting close to time for trial and I was panicking, he finally answered me, saying not to worry, he put in for a continuance, for me to go on virtually, tell the judge I wanted a continuance. The judge said the defendant wasn't served, granted me a continuance. I wasn't happy at all, because I did not want to delay this court date, I needed to get this resolved, as I was ripped off by a landlord and my health is terrible, having had 2 heart surgeries/brain bleed/sepsis that almost all took my life 3 times, and I needed to recover this money that was ripped off by this landlord, because I wasn't able to run my business anymore, due to my brain bleed. This lawyer knew the dire situation I was in, but didn't contact me for 5 months after the 1st court date, and now the next court date was 5 months later, all due to this lawyer not doing what I paid him for, serving the defendant, preparing all the evidence I gave him shortly after hiring him, over a year earlier, paying him $1310.00 ! It was July now 2023 and the next court date was Aug 1, due to being continued after the 1st court date this lawyer caused, the defendant not being served, so I confronted him and he promised again that he would be serving her & he would eat the service fee, which was ridiculous, since I paid him to have a process server serve her, so I sent him proof of my payment I had made for the service fee, $120 plus other fees totaling another $270, then he promised again that he would serve her the next day. Once again, I believed him, I was desperate and had no choice, and gave him room to do as he promised again, now only 10 days before the 2nd court date, having promised me he'd also do trial exhibits/prep, but hadn't contacted me for 5 months! I emailed him panicking, and he said don't worry, but he hadn't served the defendant, and didn't have any of my evidence put in exhibits or any other pre-trial prep he promised he would do and I paid for! I couldn't believe it, I had trial the next morning and now 17 months after I hired him, he still had not done what I had paid him for! I had to buy exhibit software and learn how to do it, to do the exhibits myself so I could try to get them in on time, I also paid him to do! He lied to me again, and told me she had already been served, saying that the documents in the ROA were proof of service, dated before the 1st court date, and I knew that was a lie, because the judge verified she wasn't served and continued the 1st court date, and this was in email, and then he disappeared and wouldn't answer me anymore! I had to go to court virtually the next morning, and the judge said she had not been served and dismissed my case! I was furious this lawyer knew he didn't serve her, that I paid for, and lied repeatedly to me, abused me for 17 months with lies and knew my case was going to get dismissed, due to his not doing what I paid him for, and he had a smug attitude like he could care less! Now he won't answer my emails, texts or calls, thinking he is going to steal all my money I paid him to sue this landlord!

As I told you, I finished the work on your small claims case that you paid me for. You know I emailed you the draft Claim and Order which you approved AND SIGNED. Your statement that all I did is send you a fee waiver is a blatant misrepresentation. This is easily proved by emails between us and by your signatures on the paperwork Look at the invoice. I did everything I agreed to do, except the trial preparation, which we do not do until before the trial. We specifically discussed the fact up front that you can’t have a lawyer in small claims court. You claiming otherwise is also untrue. You also agreed to pay me $500 to answer the unlawful detainer lawsuit you were served with. Based on your promise, I started preparing the Answer. At your request, I agreed to split the payment into two $250 payments, neither of which you have made. You left this part out of your review. If you don’t file a response, you may be evicted by default in very short order, possibly in as little as two weeks. If you don’t wish to proceed, I can dismiss the small claims case and refund you half of the $500 you paid. Please let me know immediately. Your phone is disconnected and will not accept text messages. Best of luck.
