About me

Kerry L. Steigerwalt's professional commentary has been a mainstay of many San Diegonews media outlets on stories and issues dealing with the justice system.

The media frequently featured Steigerwalt as their legal analyst to provide guidance on notable cases such as the O.J. Simpson murder case and the Michael Jackson molestation trial.

Steigerwalt was a key in-studio analyst during San Diego's most notorious murders: David Westerfield's kidnapping and slaying of Sabre Springs neighbor Danielle van Dam and has commented on the John Gardner double-murder case.

He has successfully defended hundreds of clients in cases ranges from drunken driving to death penalty cases and has won numerous acquittals in murder cases.

Last but not least, he has been widely recognized and active in numerous organizations and associations dedicated to fighting for the rights of injured victims as well as the criminally accused.

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority.

  1. Discipline with Actual Suspension
    issued in CA, 2012

    updated

This sanction means the attorney lost his or her license to practice law for a period of time. The attorney typically returns to practicing law when the suspension expires.

Kerry’s comment: “Error acknowledged. Circumstance very unusual and never likely to reoccur. Suspension was brief and has been served.”
