Not recommanding

My experience with this immigration attorney has been extremely disappointing. When I met him for the first time, he said if USCIS allows him, he will come to the interview with me, but unfortunately he didn't. This lack of commitment and representing me on the phone had severe consequences for my ca...se. The officer hanged up on him and didn't approve my case. USCIS asked me for some documents that I didn't know where and how to get them. In respond of my help to get the documents, this attorney simply told me that he can not help and he doesn't know how to solve it. It was the moment I felt vulnerable and not supported. Then I paid another immigration attorney who gave me the answer I was looking for quickly. He seems nice and his price is good, but unfortunately his service is not good enough to help you. I do not recommend him at all.

I am sad that an anonymous person posted this review because it was such a pleasure having him as a client and being able to help him become a citizen of the United States. It was quite gratifying explaining to him multiple times through multiple meetings, phone calls, and emails the nature of the challenges in his case and to clear up his misunderstandings and imaginary concerns about the law to succeed in his case. How sad for him that despite all that advice and support I gave him, he felt vulnerable and unsupported. In addition, I was pleased to have a client who I thought had a good understanding of Covid where millions died and saw the great benefit to us both in my attending his interview by telephone rather than in person to avoid risk to him and me by sitting in a crowded office together. I wish I could make up to him his feeling of vulnerability with additional services to assist him in naturalizing, but, because he quickly and seamlessly became a United States citizen despite the challenges in his case, he needs no more help from an immigration lawyer. It is reminiscent of a child full of fantasies contrary to reality and the truth with little capacity to understand the contributions others make to their successes. Fortunately for him, my ethical responsibility to him prevents me from addressing the specifics of his case or possibly even identifying him. Online reviews allow people in glass houses to throw stones. In this case, anonymously, which tells me something about his ethics. Maybe the first time he votes in a U.S. election, he will feel some gratitude. However, my goal was not gaining his gratitude, but, rather, helping him become United States citizen, so, though I am sad, I am happy for him and wish him well. I am proud to have lent a hand. Whatever his name may be....

"I endorse this lawyer's work. Mr. Montag is one of the best immigration lawyers in the state. I have worked with him for several years on the commission that writes and grades the immigration specialty exam for the California State Bar. Mr. Montag is the Chairperson of the commission, and has consistently demonstrated an in-depth understanding of very complex immigration issues (as well as a great wit and sense of humor). His approach to legal problems also reflects the highest ethical standards. Mr. Montage is my very top choice for deportation (removal) defense or family-based immigration cases in the San Diego area."
