Janet Helen Mcdonough

Janet H. McDonough is an AV rated law firm and is qualified as a "preeminent" woman lawyer.  She is a member of the San Diego Estate Planning Council and has been nominated to various Who's Who registries.  She focuses her law practice specifically on trusts and complex estate planning - continuing a tradition of excellence in the legal community after her father-in-law, Joseph P. McDonough.  He practiced in the San Diego area for 45 years.

Janet "took over" her father-in-law's law practice in 1991 after being associate corporate counsel to the Hahn Company. She gave legal advice and guidance to over 25 shopping centers nationwide.  She formerly worked for the San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper and served on the "grievance" committee for the San Diego Newspaper Guild.

She has represented hundreds of trustees, executors and agents under durable powers of attorney in the planning and administration of trusts, probates, conservatorships and estates.  She has been responsible for planning, administering and distributing millions of dollars from estates to beneficiaries.

She has been invited to be chair of the county bar association's Trusts and Estates Committee and other estate planning committees and organizations.

She has been a Lion for 18 years - serving as the first woman president of the Hillcrest-Mission Valley Lions Club in 1996, as Balboa Zone Chair for two years and as the district constitution and by-laws committee chair among other positions.  She has served on committees for the San Diego Foundation, Balboa Park Trust, Children's Hospital, First United Methodist Church and has chaired various Student Speaker contests for the Multiple District 4-L6 Student Speaker Foundation.

She is a speaker on trusts and estates for various local, religious and charitible entities.
