Attorney Jeffrey D. Poindexter was raised in Southern California in Chula Vista. After graduating from Chula Vista High School, and completing two years at Southwestern College he continued on to obtain a bachelors degree from the University of San Diego where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a major in International Relations. Next, he followed in the footsteps of his father & served four years in the Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer onboard the USS Tuscaloosa making several transits of the Pacific Ocean. In 1993 he was admitted to the Bar after earning his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law.
After earning his law degree he spent ten years working for a financial and real estate corporation in San Diego. During this period Mr. Poindexter handled hundreds of litigation matters, regularly appeared in court throughout California, and in Hawaii, Florida, New York, Ohio, and both State and Federal appellate courts.
In 2004 , Jeffrey opened The Law Offices of Jeffrey D. Poindexter, in which he combines the skills from his previous work with the essential personal touch found in smaller law offices. His hands-on approach to solving client’s disputes and problems have served his clients well and resulted in many successes. Jeffrey’s experience in solving a wide range of legal problems allows him to counsel and assist each client on a personalized basis, for most any legal situation which may arise. He does not just find a solution for a particular problem and then just disappear once the matter has been resolved. He makes every effort to maintain a long and prosperous relationship with each of his clients.
Mr. Poindexter has been admitted to practice law in all California State courts as well as the Federal Courts of Southern and Central California and the Ninth and Sixth Court of Appeals
Mr. Poindexter has tried cases throughout California including San Diego, Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay area and as far away as Florida. He has represented clients in many areas of the law including but not limited to those mentioned below:
While in college, Jeffrey studied Spanish in Mexico and Costa Rica. He takes Spanish lessons regularly in an ongoing effort to better represent his Spanish speaking clients.
He is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA.)
In his spare time, Attorney J.D. Poindexter enjoys spending time with his family and their chocolate Labrador, Fenton. He also takes pleasure in playing tennis, traveling and rooting for San Diego sports teams.
