Unfair

About fifteen years ago, Ms Courtney was my lawyer in a divorce settlement that had started out as a legal separation. I was trying to get equal share of our money. My husband chose not to have a lawyer representing him. He and I ran a business together for twenty year of marriage. He controlled ...all the income giving me a small allowance because he claimed we made too little for me to receive an income. I worked fifty hours or more a week for the business as an illustrator, graphic artist and art director. He claimed that I had to work long hours for the survival of the business. I got a repetitive strain injury from over-work towards the end. My doctor told me I would need to change professions due to the injury. I had recently been accepted by Vocational Rehab for career counseling. At the time, I could barely afford to rent a room in a house, while my husband could afford to rent a four bedroom house in a more affluent neighborhood that we had shared together. I felt the settlement was unfair. Ms Courtney agreed with my husband that I only receive two years alimony even though I was having difficulty finding employment due to the injury. She said the court would not be sympathetic to my asking for more. Also she seemed to agree that my husband get the Publishing business that grossed over $200 a year in exchange for my getting the illustrations that I did for that publication. I told her I didn't feel this was equitable, but she insisted that I could earn money selling them. Finally, I accept these terms only because I was running out of money. Ms. Courtney did make sure that he and I split the money he had taken out of the business. Also, she did include in our settlement, at my insistence, that after the two years, I could go back to court. I did not do this because I felt so traumatized by the divorce.

Efficient Divorce

Ms. Courtney moved with lightening speed in negotiating an agreement. Her methods allowed me to keep full ownership of the family home, protected 100% of my retirement funds, avoided paying alimony, yet shared several expenses with the other party. Her keen abilities has provided me with financial ...security I could have so easily lost. I am very thankful she was willing to take my case.

Amazing Attorney! Highly recommended. Did an incredible job with my divorce.

All I can say is Wow! Needed an attorney to handle my divorce. Met with two other attorneys prior but decided to go with Liz. Glad I did. She's a dedicated, intelligent and experienced lawyer who truly cares. She's a warrior in the courtroom and takes charge to get the best resolution for her client...s. The divorce took 4 years to settle. When opposing council wanted to drag things along and make ridiculous demands, Liz pushed for progress and resolution. Thanks to her the divorce is finally over. I'm happy with the outcome. She's an amazing attorney and highly recommended.

Doesn't follow through

I hired Ms. Courtney and after paying her a lot of money she did not file certain papers with the court which resulted in a drastic cut in my spousal support by the judge and she didn't follow through on other issues in my divorce she said she would take care of. I had to retain a new attorney and pa...y out more money.
