Georgianna Junco Kelman

Georgianna is a secret weapon! She is every child's super hero! She is a force to be reckoned with! And we all want her on our side! We have been at an LAUSD elementary school for 8 years. We have our third child going into 3rd grade! We have had 3 different experiences and only with our third di...d we see some cracks- we knew early on that she was struggling! We even considered repeating Kinder- we made the decision at the last moment on the last day of school to push her to First! Our Kinder teacher even said "she may always be a little behind!" Our First grade teacher encouraged us, by reappearing, "she will catch up!" And then our Second grade teacher said,"she is so behind and needs help immediately!" At the end of our First grade year I called the school coordinator to wave a flag in front of her- saying help help help we are going under! So in our Second grade year we started small interventions- no one said let's test, let's see what we are missing! Basically, no one was offering help. Three kids and eight years at this school! I was looking at these teachers as my child's partners and as my Facebook friends- when in Reality- no one was telling me what I didn't know- and what I needed to know! Georgianna heard my story and shook her head- then the next morning she went to work on getting my child tested- and starting our process! Our real process! She has been a gift and is the gift that keeps giving. She had been helping us and guiding us in uncharted territory! Finally, my child has a true partner in her education! Mrs Kelman and her team are the best out there. After years of my husband and i fighting the school on our own with very little success hired Mrs Kelman and within a short period of time finally received the necessary accomadations for our son. Mrs Kelman and her team always had time to hear our concerns, be present at all of our iep and mediation meetings and offered us support and hope when we had none. Georgianna is the best attorney for special needs kids. She recently represented our family for my son's IEP and we were awarded everything we asked for. First off, I want to start by saying how amazing she is at shAt she does and her passion for it shows. Her confidence and determination shows the minuet you meet her.
