Very Disappointed — I Felt Misled and Not Taken Seriously

I had a very disappointing experience with this attorney, and based on my experience, I would not recommend him to anyone looking for an attorney who will genuinely fight for their case. When I retained him, I believed I was hiring someone who was prepared to fight tooth and nail for me. He told me ...that I had a very strong case and gave me confidence that he would present the details and evidence to the judge in a way that would give me a strong chance of winning. Unfortunately, my experience after retaining him was very different from what I was led to believe beforehand. I retained him for approximately a year and a half, and during that entire time, he only appeared in court in person once. Most of the time, he appeared remotely. The opposing side consistently appeared in person, and I became increasingly concerned that our lack of in-person representation was not presenting my case in the way I expected or wanted. When I raised my concerns with him after another court appearance where he appeared remotely, instead of having a professional conversation with me about my concerns, he became extremely angry and called me yelling. The following day, he sent me what I felt was an insincere apology and then dropped me as a client. Throughout my time as his client, I also felt that things discussed with me did not always match what ultimately happened or was communicated in court. This left me feeling confused and, ultimately, that I could not rely on the information I was being given about how my case was being handled. Another major frustration was feeling like I was repeatedly being asked for more money while not seeing the level of effort, communication, and representation that I expected when I initially retained him. Overall, I felt that I was not taken seriously as a client. I retained him because I believed, based on what he told me, that I had a strong case and that he was prepared to fight for me. Instead, I ended up feeling disappointed, frustrated, and abandoned as a client. I am sharing my experience because I would want others to know what my experience was before making the decision to retain this attorney. I personally would not use him again and would encourage anyone considering him to ask very specific questions about communication, court appearances, case strategy, fees, and what level of representation they can realistically expect.

We take client concerns seriously, and we are disappointed whenever a former client feels dissatisfied with their representation. However, this review presents a characterization of events that we do not believe fairly or accurately reflects the representation provided. Because this review was posted anonymously, and because attorneys have strict obligations regarding client confidentiality, we cannot confirm the identity of the reviewer or publicly discuss the facts, strategy, communications, court proceedings, or circumstances surrounding any particular client's case. Those ethical obligations significantly limit our ability to respond to specific allegations in a public forum. What we can say is that appearing remotely, when permitted by the court, does not mean that an attorney is less prepared, less engaged, or less committed to a client's case. Decisions regarding how to appear are made based upon the circumstances of the hearing, court procedures, scheduling, and what is appropriate for the matter. Likewise, an attorney's assessment that a client has a strong case is not a guarantee of a particular result. Litigation is inherently uncertain, and the ultimate decisions are made by the court based upon the evidence, applicable law, and arguments presented by both sides. We also recognize that attorney-client relationships can sometimes deteriorate when there are disagreements regarding strategy, expectations, communication, fees, or how a case should proceed. When that occurs, there are circumstances in which ending the attorney-client relationship is the appropriate professional decision. We stand behind the work performed by our office and the effort we devote to our clients. We also take our professional and ethical responsibilities seriously, including the responsibility not to litigate a former client's case or disclose confidential information in response to an online review. While we disagree with the characterization presented here, we respect every client's right to express their opinion about their experience and wish the reviewer well.

Horrible lawyer who doesn't do his job

Donald is unprofessional and doesn't turn in any of your paperwork on time to the court. He is always too busy and he will do poor quality work. Thanks to him I lost my child and he didn't care. He only cares about being paid and he will not fight for you. He is a bully and will not advocate for you ...
