This is no small feat, as a long-standing issue with the mortgage industry is that it does not seem to be bound by law or agreement.

For example, in April of 2012, the Big Five banks signed consent agreements with the US government in which they agreed not to foreclose on property owners in over 49 states without first taking certain preventative measure. They also agreed to pay out a $25 billion dollar settlement to those states. Unfortunately, even as the ink was drying, the banks had resumed "business as usual."

When the Home Affordable Modification Program bill known as HAMP came into effect, Attorney Leslie Richards was one of the first people to speak out against its biased nature. It was, “Banks 99, owners 1--if they were lucky,” she stated.
