Hagop Baronian has devoted more than two decades to the practice of workers’ compensation law, representing injured workers in a system that is often far more technical, procedural and difficult to navigate than most people realize. Over the course of his career, he has developed a reputation for disciplined case analysis, a deep knowledge of the workers’ compensation system and a straightforward approach that clients consistently trust during some of the most uncertain periods of their lives.
Hagop exclusively handles workers’ compensation matters, a field he believes has evolved into one of the most specialized and technical areas of legal practice. Unlike other areas of law, workers’ compensation operates through its own highly procedural system, with unique rules, medical evaluations and administrative processes that can quickly overwhelm injured workers trying to understand their rights while also recovering physically and financially. Hagop focuses heavily on helping clients understand that process from the very beginning, believing that informed clients are ultimately better positioned to make sound decisions about their cases and their futures.
What distinguishes Hagop’s practice is the perspective he brings from the early part of his legal career. Before representing injured workers, he spent years handling workers’ compensation defense matters on behalf of Fortune 500 companies, insurance carriers, school districts, universities, and public entities. That experience gave him a detailed understanding of how employers, insurers, and defense counsel evaluate exposure, challenge claims and approach litigation strategy.
His approach is perhaps most evident in the extensive medical deposition work he handles as part of his practice. Hagop has taken hundreds of doctor depositions throughout his career, often challenging medical opinions that fail to fully capture the scope or seriousness of a client’s injuries. In many cases, that work has helped clients secure more accurate medical evaluations, improved treatment access, acceptance of previously disputed injuries and stronger financial outcomes.
Hagop earned his undergraduate degree from UCLA before attending law school and building a career in workers’ compensation litigation — an area of law he often says ultimately found him rather than the other way around. Looking back across more than 20 years in practice, he believes there is no other field of law he would rather handle.
Hagop is licensed to practice law in the State of California. CA Bar: 225482.
