Amira was very helpful not only in reviewing our egg donor contract, but also guiding us through our first steps to surrogacy. We are a same sex couple who decided to have children through surrogacy. Originally, we had planned to hire Amira to take care of all the legal work for our surrogacy (drafti...ng and reviewing contracts, parentage, etc.), but our surrogacy agency insisted that we use their legal team. Even then, Amira was very responsive, patient, and understanding. She consistently got back to us quickly and took time to explain anything we were unclear on. We would definately reach out to hire her in the future if we ever need.

Amira was hired to represent me during a surrogacy contract (I was going to be a surrogate). She drove a good two hours in traffic to meet me where I was comfortable by my home. We sat down and she explained the contract with me, line by line, word for word. She answered all my questions and advised ...me against certain things that she didn't feel were right in the contract. She also encouraged me to add certain things to the contract to protect myself. She negotiated with the IP's (intended parent) attorney. Unfortunately, after several days of back and forth, I decided not to go through with the surrogacy because the intended parent and I could not come to an agreement of terms in the contract. I was taken by surprise when I received a letter months later of the intended parent demanding I reimburse him for all the screening costs he had to pay for, which are routine and actually required before a surrogate can enter into a legal contract. I was not going to fork over thousands that consisted of attorney fees and health screenings that any intended parent would have to pay for just to see if the potential surrogate was even medically able to carry a pregnancy. So, the intended parent decided to take me to small claims court to try and get his money back. In small claims, you cannot be represented by an attorney - it is only for the plaintiff and defendant. Even though Amira was no longer my attorney (she was only hired to represent me during the contract), she helped me through my small claims court date. She helped me gather supporting evidence, told me which emails to use, sent me family law codes, and helped me with a declaration. I was so happy and relieved when I received the final answer from the small claims judge in the mail stating that I did NOT owe the intended parent any money. I was so grateful to have had Amira's help and words of encouragement during this entire process. If I ever decide to do a surrogacy again, with a better-fit or better matched intended parent, I will definitely be requesting her representation again. Amira is so sweet, responds to all questions and communication in a timely manner, and does not rush you when it seems like you have never-ending questions and you are sitting in a coffee shop at 10:00pm on a week night. I have never had to wait longer than a day to receive a call back from her either. She is definitely not an attorney who makes you feel like you are another typical client. Her answers are not vague and she is always willing to clarify until you understand what something means. She definitely does more than she has to do, and goes out of her way. I will forever be thankful for all of her help!
