Academic Achievements
In 2000 Mr. Aparicio received his Bachelor of Arts Degreefrom Claremont McKenna College (“CMC”) with a Concentration in Business, PublicPolicy, and Public Law, while serving as Research Fellow for both the prestigiousKravis Leadership and Pacific Researchers Institutes. Mr. Aparicio served as an intern for Senator DianneFeinstein in Los Angeles and the Senator’s Chief Judiciary Counsel in .
In 2003Mr. Aparicio received his Juris Doctor Degree from UC Hastings College of theLaw (“Hastings”). Mr. Aparicio receiveda Certificate in Taxation from the renowned Hastings Tax Department, as well asboth the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence from the Witkin Legal Instituteand the Excellence of the Future Award from the Center for Computer-AssistedLegal Instruction.
WorkHistory
In 2000Mr. Aparicio worked as a Legal Analyst for Ajalat, Polley, Ayoob & Matarese,California’s premier law firm for State and Local Taxes, analyzing State Boardof Equalization and Franchise Tax Board positions regarding a variety offranchise, business and property taxes. Mr. Aparicio participated in landmark multi-million dollar settlementswith the City of San Francisco ($69 Million) and City of Oakland ($2 Million) resultingfrom each city’s unconstitutional business license tax.
In 2001Mr. Aparicio externed with Presiding Justice Roger Boren of the CaliforniaCourt of Appeal. He worked closely with JusticeBoren to understand the inner workings of analyzing and drafting appellateopinions addressing both criminal and civil litigation.
In2002, Mr. Aparicio worked as an associate with Best, Best & Kriegercovering public law, natural resources, corporate transactions, and taxation.
In2003, as a result of his academic record, legal writing skills, and impressive workethic, Presiding Justice Boren of the California Court of Appeal, awarded Mr.Aparicio a semester clerkship for academic credit.
In2004, Mr. Aparicio joined Edison ESI (“ESI”), a wholly-owned subsidiary ofSouthern California Edison. He spent thenext six years managing risk and negotiating nearly $80 Million dollars ofthird-party utility contracts. In 2007,ESI named Mr. Aparicio the chair of both the Internal Controls Committee andRisk Management Council, the youngest employee ever at either position. Mr. Aparicio also received certificates in ProjectManagement and Frontline Leadership.
CommunityActivities
In2005, Mr. Aparicio joined the Claremont McKenna College Alumni AssociationBoard of Directors, and serves on the Executive Committee. In 2008, CMCAA named him Chief FinancialOfficer, the youngest ever at the position.
Mr.Aparicio is a former director for the St. Nicholas Orthodox ChristianElementary School and Child Care Advisory Board.
